it would end some religious wars if they find his bones; if they don't i'd gladly be christian but apparantly from what i've heard digging in isreal is forbidden because it's sacred land. so for all we know his bones could be in isreal under the ground?

First they did not just bury people in the ground like we do. They had a different system. They put them in a tomb and after a year or so they put the bones in a stone box. I take it that you did not see the show about this on the discovery channel a few weeks ago. It was very unsettling to be sure. But no one knows for sure. And this is how I look at it. Even if we someday discover that Jesus was just a man like everyone else, he was a very remarkable man. He was a man who was very close to God and learned to do some very extraordinary things and taught others to do so as well. I would still follow His teachings and His God.

Well, as a Christian, I am faithful to the scriptures and believe Luke 24 as fact. (It talks about the burial and resurrection of Christ.) So, I know that no one will ever find Jesus' bones because they simply aren't there to find. If anyone claims to have found Jesus' bones anyway, how can they prove it? We don't exactly have Jesus' DNA on file anywhere.

If you'd like to read that scripture on line check out the source and find the New American Standard Version or the New King James Version (for the best translation) in the pull down menu.

Actually, it would probably START wars, not end them. First off, who would get custody over the remains of THE SAVIOUR? I can tell you easily that would not be a pretty sight to see them scrambling like starving dogs to get the bones.

Secondly, the doubters. Someone somewhere will say the moment they are found, even if they're really his, that it's a fake. Or not "THE" Jesus, just "A" Jesus. That there's not enough proof.

Then the religious controversy, like how you see all above me: he doesn't even HAVE bones, he rose from the grave!

On top of that, the people who will think everything they have lived for is a lie and either become criminal, insane, or suicidal.

The 'bones' are irrelevant - the wars are all about politics masquerading as religion.

Either Jesus ascended to Heaven or his bones have been somewhere for around 2000 years - as much as 'religious' authorities claim to care - the issues are now about territory, control etc,

As for Israel, they are doing so much building, that much of the ground has been disturbed - and there was plenty of building before the establishment of the state. Sacred ground depends on who is in power....

in theory that would make the whole catholic religion a fraud because then he never rose from the dead. but..... thats what people take the interpretation "rose form the dead as" it said that his spirt more than his accually body rose. so he could have bones some where. the bible cant be taken as literal becasue soem things dont match up to now a days. liek the sun was made on the fourth day but how long were the first three days. there was no sun to determin the lenght.. little things liek that are allover the bible u just gotta belive

The story is that when he resurrected he showed his injured hands and feet to Mary Magdalene to prove to her that it was him. So, apparently, he took his body with him so there would be no bones.
But, if digging was allowed there and someone dug up some bones believed to be his, there are no tests that can be done to prove identity. Heck, Vlad Dracul (Dracula) is a thousand years 'newer' (closer in time to us) and we can't even identify the skeleton found near his burial site.
So, there will never be an end as long as people continue to believe that character was an actual human.

Yeah, a lot of people's bones are under the ground in Israel. Just because they tell you they are the bones of Jesus does not nessessarily mean they are. I would much rather be more impressed if they found Jimmy Hoffa's bones... at least he got things done.

Wow, all of you actually believe in zombies.. What a fuc*ing world we live in.

Jesus ascended to heaven(Acts1:9) after his death and resurrection, so we won't be finding any bones. As for finding definitive evidence that will prove to everyone's satisfaction that he existed and is the Savior, I don't think there is such a thing. See the passage below. If people don't believe the Bible, they wouldn't believe if they found Jesus bones or if Jesus came back and told them himself.

Luke 16:19 “There was a certain rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and fared sumptuously every day. 20 But there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, full of sores, who was laid at his gate, 21 desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell[d] from the rich man’s table. Moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. 22 So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried. 23 And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
24 “Then he cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.’ 25 But Abraham said, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted and you are tormented. 26 And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us.’
27 “Then he said, ‘I beg you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father’s house, 28 for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, lest they also come to this place of torment.’ 29 Abraham said to him, ‘They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.’ 30 And he said, ‘No, father Abraham; but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’ 31 But he said to him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead.’”

Dear Tabby,

Jesus rose from the dead and went back into heaven and over 500 people witnessed the event. Why are people digging in Israel for a person who is not there? Why don't people recall the fact that over 500 people physically saw Jesus after He had risen from the dead?

I hope this will help you.

You will NEVER find Jesus' bones as He rose from the dead and then ascended into Heaven! This is recorded in Mathew, Mark, Luke, and John who were eyewitnesses to what happened.
