I love Bostons. I had one that died almost a year ago. I still miss her. I am afriad the only tips I can give is to stop the jumping early. If mine was typical of the breed at all, the jumping never stops. Other than the jumping, they don't seem to have any breed specific bad habits. I love the breed. Good luck with yours.

Mine is food oriented. Will do anything for a piece of cheese :) They are really hyper dogs well mine is anyway he does what I call the Boston 500 around our living room. Mine is also a very good escape artist it got to a point where we had to put a lock on his crate, we've tried the big metal crates and he learnt how to open it, then tried the travel crate and don't know how but he managed to get out even when it was locked??? Very smart little dogs. We also tried keeping him confined to the kitchen with a baby gate but that was a laugh because he could jump it like it wasn't there, and he is only 10 months old right now, a real clown of a dog. He is always trying to find a way to outsmart us. The best way to train a hyper dog is to take it outside and let it burn some energy before trying to train it and train him/her in a room that is not going to have distractions. He had so much energy we ended up getting another dog to help tire him out of course a dog that will be triple it's size when it's grown but they play together great and totally tire each other out. Our pup learned the basics really quickly, you just have to be consistant and patient. They are very sturdy little dogs that think they are big, ours plays next door with a Wolf Husky cross. Ours also naturally barks when someone is around our house, doesn't bark at all unless someone is at the door, we figured this out because we had visitors come to our patio door and the boston would bark, totally suprised us. It's a website for Boston Terrier owners and they give really good information to questions you have and are really into their pups. Good Luck......

I'm getting a female boston in about a month. I found a great website that's very helpful. I know that they are the type of dog that doesn't like to be over heated or cold in the winter due to their small snouts. good luck.

walk them before you have a training session they are so hyper they need to get rid of some of the extra energy so they can pay attention
