So they don't get poked in the eye by the other person's nose. I dunno, it's just customary.

If you close your eyes, you can grab a quick nap and no one will be the wiser. It's also a good time to look at the little white sparkles while your eyes are closed.

But really...haven't you ever had to kiss someone that you didn't want to kiss (but somehow got talked into it...) and you close your eyes because you think you might upchuck if you have to witness it?

The real reason---> That's how they do it in the movies!

Well I know I close my eyes because then I can really get into the kiss. If I kept my eyes open I would not feel the chemistry and electricity that comes with closing my eyes.

I just think it is more romantic with your eyes closed.

because when you kiss someone you get lost in the moment and the world around you is gone and doesnt matter..you're on cloud nine for just that moment..you can go by feel instead of sight and it is much more romatic to just move with the one you are kissing than look at them..not to mention that if you are looking at the person while kissing you will be more particular about how you are kissing..yet when you have no sight...mistakes you make dont matter and dont exsist..

hope this helps..

You know, I've never wondered. Perhaps it is because when you're doing a face plant with someone that person's face is too close to yours to properly focus on them, or no one wants to stare at someones eyelashes while making out with them I suppose. Honestly, I don't think many people even think about it long enough to decide to keep them open. I guess we just do it on reflex.

because kisses should be passionate.
closing your eyes, is so you can be with the kiss completely,
closing your eyes makes you focus. =]

I think it helps you enjoy the moment and focus solely on the kiss and the person whom you're kissing. If your eyes are open and you're looking around, where's the romance in that?

closing your eyes shows a sign of trust...as well as not seeing the other person's eyes crossed

Because when you get that close to something (the other person's face) your eyes can't quite focus on it, and they reflexively shut to avoid the strain of trying to focus.

This isn't the most romantic answer but it might be because your faces are so close together that you can't focus - if you try, you'll get a headache and that's no fun.

It's a way to internalize what you feel at that very moment, and prevent you from sharing it with anyone else through misdirected eye-contact.
