Technically it is its own country. But if you look at how their top source of income is money from illegal immigrants in this country, and how most of their industry is their because they are close to the US; then they are closer to a parasite than a territory.

HUH??? Mexico is a total independent country. It has no connection with the U.S. except a common border. You wouldn't ask this same question concerning Canada, would you?

The U.S. has numerous territories/possessions, the most notable being Guam, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, and American Samoa. There are many more islands and atolls that remain U.S. possessions after WWll.

There seems to be a regular procession of Mexicans entering the US, but Mexico is neither a territory or possession of the US.

No, but we should have made it one !! Then we'd have a Mexico that would work, in the infrastructure and political sense.

We'd have a far smaller border to protect... we'd also probably still have the Canal !!
