Diverticolitis could present a rectal bleeding. Generally, symptoms of blood passed with the stool are usually indicative of lower rectal or anal problems such as hemarrhoids or fissures. It is necessary, however, to exclude mucosal conditions e.g. polyps or tumors and that is why a colonoscopy is done. IF the blood is MIXED with the stool, then it is necessary to rule out conditions above the level of the sigmoidoscope. For these instances see a doctor and be prepared to have another colonoscopy probably, you have done it 3 years ago so you will not know what is it now not unless you do the investigation. Be strong and do not be carried away with your fear.

Poor you ......... I have had some of the same problems . I was diagnosed with Crohn's diesease 23 years ago ,so you have my sympathy. Do not be scared unless it last for a few days , if you are still passing blood , you may need another colonoscopy to diagnose the trouble . Did your colonoscopy 3 years ago reveal any scare tissue from the colitis ? Maybe some undigested food got caught in scar tissue . Could it be stress ? that could happen . . Have you eaten anything different , your digesstive tract is more sensitive than others (peanuts seem to get to my system ). Are you thirstier than normal ?, Is your tummy sensitive in the center below the belly ? These are signs of bleeding from the bowels. If I may add one more suggestion , get tested for lactose intolerance . Milk really has a way of ruining injured bowels...........The last thing I will suggest is that even if ts the worst case scenario , don't let it defeat you . I suspect it will be ok in a couple of days but if not , medical technology has made leaps and bounds in the last 20 years ........... Good Luck and don't panic .

sometimes when you have a colonoscopy, they will take pollups out to test, that is a very delicate area of your bowl system, sometimes the area that had an pollup removed can be irriated by a bowel movement, and can tear sightly and cause bleeding. i would highly suggest you call your dr and explain to him what is happening, he may want to see you asap, or he will give you a cream for your rectal area that will stop the bleeding. i would try and relax and call your dr, or have your husband call, since you are understandibly upset, and see if he will see you on an emergency basis. also the dr will want to see a bowel movement. if you can get a sample, and put it in a ziplock bag, he can send it out for testing upon arrival. i know it sounds gross, but if you have a cat littler pooper scooper you can pick it up with. i wish you all the best. get well soon. my thought are with you.

I wish I had an answer for you, however, I am on the opposite side. My bf has had blood in his stools before and it always really concerns me but he's not the type to go to the doctor so he just ignores it. It goes away and he says its just because he had the flu but I have never heard of that; so I also would appreciate an answer as to what may cause this symptom.

Most likely it's a fissure. Their pretty common its a cut in your intestinal wall from well whatever may have cut it. Because the blood is fresh it means it is not old and probably coming from somewhere near the "opening". It could also be irratable bowel, or polups

You need to be scoped again. It could be as trivial as internal hemorrhoids, is likely to be from diverticulosis, but could even be colon cancer. There are several other possibilitiesas well. The problem is, you can't necessarily judge how much blood you're losing, so it's best to go ahead and have it checked promptly.

I know of only one person who had this symptom and she had a mild stomach ulcer that could be caused by the stress in your life that come from caring for 3 kids and a husband. It could be totally curable, Go see a doctor to find out more.
My guess is the other things are unrelated.

I can understand how that would be very scary... Have you called your doctor, it's sound as though you may need to make an emergency appointment or even go the ER. I hope it is nothing too serious, but it sounds like that is what you need to do!
