I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your dog. I don't think that food was on the list. Here are a couple of phone numbers to call. (866)895-2708 & (866) 463-6738. Here is the web site for the FDA www.fda.gov/oc/opacom/hottopics/petfood.html

If you haven't buried or had your dog cremated yet, take your dog and the pet food to your vet. If you have laid your dog to rest, still go to your vet with a sample of the pet food. Going to an animal shelter should also do the trick. They will test the food for you or have it sent off.

The dry food should not have been affected though, as it doesn't contain the affected wheat gluten. But it really doesn't hurt to have it checked.

I'm sorry for your loss

Ally

Purina is not made by Menu foods and no dry foods were involved in any recall so I think you'd have a very hard time proving something to do with your dogs death is related. If you want to bring it to your vets and have them test it for you.

Check w/ your vet, he will know where to send the food to have it tested. DO NOT Trust Purina to test food. They will tell you ' We tested the food and it is within our quality ' Which means they smelled it and looked it and did nothing else more to make sure that the food is good.

Iams, Eukanuba, Hills, Science Diet, Pro-Plan, and Purina are NOT preservative free, ALL contain ethoxyquin. (Ethoxy was developed by Monsanto as a rubber hardener and insecticide). It is believed to cause liver and kidney dis-ease, cancer, immune dis-ease, skin problems, birth deformities, and thyroid problems. And be aware of food containing BHA and BHT avoid at all costs.

You will have to have a necropsy done on the dog. Blood tests are the only way they can determine whether or not your dog has eaten contaminated food.

Keep the food you had around and then have a blood test done.
