Cardio, doesn't matter what can be running, elliptical, cycling, etc. Also, do some lite weight lifting to tone, and to help burn fat.

First thing to tell you. You cannot spot train areas. The only way to truly lose weight is to burn more calories than you eat. I would recommend doing at least 30 - 40 min of cardio vascular workout 3 - 4 days per week. I love doing a combo of the elliptical trainer (especially the one that does your arms) and the rowing machine. Gives you a total body work out.

You also should try to incorporate light weight workout into your regimine. The stronger your muscles are the faster your metabolism will work and the larger the opportunity to lose weight. I do two weight routines. first one emphasizes my lower body and back. The second is upper body and abs. I do 3 sets of 15 - 20 reps. Start on a piece of equipment say a leg press. If you can do 20 reps very easy, go up a weight. You will just have to hop on a machine and find out what you can do.

As a general rule, you will lose weight on your whole body, not specific target areas.

If you have the opportunity at your gym for a free consultation or a one time personal trainer session, I would suggest taking advantage of it. Best thing I ever did.

Stomach and legs. To lose both at the same time I would recommend the exercise bike and jumping rope. You can do crunches on a rubber ball, but you have to lose weight overall. You can't spot reduce. If you are not prone to jogging, stay on the exercise bike for at least 10 to 15 minutes a day for the first month. Then try to increase the time gradually until you are at least up to 30 minutes. You have to get your heart pumping in order to lose weight. Watching your caloric intake is a must also. Drink plenty of fluids and stay away from "get skinny quick" pills. Good luck.
