I think you should let her stay with her momma. Can you tell us approximately how old the kitten is? Is there any way you can take both of them?

I volunteer for the humane society and have been around stray cats quite a lot. Taking in a stray can be quite a lot of work depending in how tame the animal is, if it looks healthy, clean fun and at a healthy weight, it can sometimes be better to leave it be. An adult can can be definitive when you try to take it's kitten. If you only want the kitten, when it becomes an adult cat will you still enjoy caring for it, if not you should not take the cat.

Mom cat AND kitten both need to be rescued. You can't take one and abandon the other. Mom cat needs to be spayed once the kitten has been weaned. Then once the kitten is old enough, it too needs to be spayed/neutered (depending on if its a girl or a boy kitten)

Get in touch with your local (no kill) shelter or animal rescue association or veterinary hospital for more info. If the cats are both friendly you can probably just start feeding them on your porch and then either put them, in a Carrier and take em to the vet OR get a responsible person who rescues cats to HUMANELY trap them for you so you can take them to the vet.

If, after all of that, you just want to keep the kitten (once it is Weaned) then the person who rescues cats (make sure this person is a responsible individual!) can foster the other cat and find a GOOD home for it.

Yes, take the kitten. If you don't want the mother and the kitten is old enough to be weaned, the kitten at least can have a quality of life. You might want to see if there is a cat rescue in your area to trap and find a home for the mom, unless you can do that.
Kittens don't stay with their parents forever and if you left them both, they would both be at risk for all the things that can happen to un-cared for cats. You shouldn't feel bad if you don't want them both. That is your preference. At least save the one and maybe find a home for the mom or call a rescue.
Do a web search and see if there is one for your area.

You can't separate the kitten from it's mother, especially if it's under 8 weeks old. I would go so far as to call that kidnapping if you don't take the mother too!

If you do get a cat, please consider the costs and responsibility involved - the cat needs spaying when the kitten is weaned for one thing.

Yes I know how dull it is to hear people going on about 'don't get a pet if you can't afford it' - but tough, it's the truth. Just look at the amount of people on this board going through heartache because they don't have money for the vet.

Kittens need to stay with momma until there a certain age. Kittens learn how to behave from there mothers, whats right from wrong. I got a kitten too young he should of been left with his mother for another few weeks! He is so crazy, he is very very feisty!! He's a biter, and he doesn't know when to stop, I've tried to tell him NO, but he never learn!!Plus if the kitten needs to be bottle feed, that's a lot of work feeding, every few hours! My advise take them both in!! good luck!!

take the kitten and find a friend to take the Momma cat. Go visit the friend with the Momma cat sometimes so the kitten can be around his/her mother. It's sweet you want to help, but, help both of them.

I would get both out take the mother to a farm where some farmer wants a barn cat. If you are a cat person keep the kitten, unless you are under a tight budget. I am a HUGE FAN of cats.

i think you should take the mom and the kitten in. Try and take them to a vet as well but just don't separate them as the kitten needs the milk off the mother cat which is vital

Please don't take the kitten away from its mother. The baby could still be so young that if it's separated from its mother, it won't survive. The best thing you can do is call Animal Control. They will safely capture the two cats and bring them to an animal shelter where they can be fed and sheltered properly and then hopefully adopted out to a great home.

It depends, is the kitten in any kind of danger? If so, take it and momma in too. If not, do what you think is best. Cats can be alot of work to take care of, but they are really affectionate animals. And they can be alot of fun to have around!
