Faith is believing in God, even though I have never seen Him. I just know He is there. I look around at all the beauty and know that someone has made it. That is God. He has taken care of me and my children. He gives me the breath and health that I need every day. Faith is believing that Jesus died on the cross, and rose again, and is sitting on the right hand of God. Faith is knowing that I am going to heaven someday. Faith is reading His Word, and believing the Truth.

The Apostle Paul taught that "faith is the substance [assurance] of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen" (Hebrews 11:1). Alma made a similar statement: "If ye have faith ye hope for things which are not seen, which are true" (Alma 32:21). Faith is a principle of action and power. Whenever we work toward a worthy goal, we exercise faith. We show our hope for something that we cannot yet see.

Faith is believing that despite whatever circumstances may arise, we trust that we will be okay and make it through.Faith can be found within God, a loved one or within oneself. Faith is not based on visual proof, but instead it is something that one believes because it is something that one can feel and understand. As we experience the trial and suffering that occurs in our lives faith and the many other gifts of the holy spirit (i.e understanding, courage, wisdom, awe etc) mature within us as well. When one has pure faith they can overcome anything.

Faith is a steady belief in something that one cannot see, but believes to be in existence.
This is how Christians have faith in God, Hinduists have faith in nirvana, and Buddhists have faith in karma. All are equally dedicated in their faith, despite not being able to directly witness the various supernatural aspects of their religion.

I'd hate to turn peoples stomach by quoting scripture but.

Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

In other words we are given faith by God, as a gift. And with this gift we are able to believe in things that we cannot necessarily see with human eyes, like God.

By grace are you saved through faith, and that not of ourselves but it is a gift of God....

so God has given us faith so we can believe.

Well, faith comes by hearing and hearing comes from the word of God.

In order to "hear" the word of God you have to be taught the word of God. This has to be done by a teacher, preacher, bishop etc. There has to be sound doctrine where you can read your Bible along with what He or She is saying.

Once you hear the word of God and understand it, faith will automatically come. Then you have to start applying it to your life. Hope this helps!!

Faith from my point of view and my religions which is Mormon is to be:

Of a sober mind.
Humble
Meek
Obediant to the commandments
To pay tithing
Charitable
To love one another and preach and proclaiming the word.

Basically to put your trust in the lord so he can bless you and show you a clean way of living that gives us much peace. That peace is the ultimate high and cannot be replecated by any drug in the world.

God bless

Hebrews 11:1

"What is faith? It is the confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen. It is the evidence of things we cannot yet see."

I would say "faith" is another word for "trust."
