There is a difference, the angel of death is actually the angel sent by god to claim Egypt's first born in the story of Moses.
The grim reaper is a caricature of this angel , but not the same thing.

Yes, the Grim Reaper is considered to be the Angel of Death. The Grim Reaper, according to the Bible, was an angel created by God.

The image of the grim reaper that we're aware of is suppose to represent the angel of death. Does that mean he/she looks like that....you know, the hood and robe, with the sickle?
This image is man made, just like the red devil with a pitchfork, or the fat man Santa Clause. No one really knows what this angel of death looks like. The bible mentions examples of the angel of death doing Gods work, but descriptions are vague. In Moses's time, the angel of death appeared like a fog.
Usually when the angel of death appeared, many people were killed. I don't think this angel of death is sent down to do one killing at a time.
As for the grim reaper characture, this goes with the stories of during the Bubonic Plague. Suppose there were witnessed accounts of men in black robes and hoods spraying something in the fields in a sweeping motion. Possibly this is what may have caused the Bubonic plague to begin with.

Yes. According to Hebrew scrools, the angel of death is a hooded figure.
We have to paint a scary picture because death is scary. Just like lucifer is supposed to be one of the most beautiful of God's angels but since he is fallen we need to think of him as looking scary.
For that matter, Lucifer is often confused with the angel of death. Lucifer means light bringer. It is not a name. Nor is satan. Which means adversary. It's a discriptor.
His true name is thought to be Samael which means "venom of God." Since the angel of death supposedly takes our lives with a drop of poison the two are often confused.
In Hebrew tradition the two are linked because when the Messiah comes, there will be no more death and there will be no more adversary.
The angel of death is mentioned in the Koran, and is called Azrael,

actually the grim reaper is in society today but there is really no angel of death...the angel of death is whatever form that death can come to you weather it be sickness or disease or a tragic accident..the angel of death is circumstances that can cause death...its good to know that we have dominion over that through jesus Christ..we dont have to worry about death to those who believe in Jesus.

the awful Reaper is someone who includes the souls of the useless to their resting position no matter if its hell or heaven. we do not understand who he really works for yet hes a medium to go back and forth onto the subsequent existence. i'm no longer efficient if he could be allowed into the church yet per chance if someone became demise in there which infrequently takes position.

Here but now they're gone
Seasons don't fear the reaper
Nor do the wind, the sun or the rain..we can be like they are
Come on baby...don't fear the reaper
Baby take my hand...don't fear the reaper
We'll be able to fly...don't fear the reaper
Baby I'm your man...
Valentine is done
Here but now they're gone
Romeo and Juliet
Are together in eternity...Romeo and Juliet
40,000 men and women everyday......Like Romeo and Juliet
40,000 men and women everyday......Redefine happiness
Another 40,000 coming everyday......We can be like they are
Come on baby...don't fear the reaper
Baby take my hand...don't fear the reaper
We'll be able to fly...don't fear the reaper
Baby I'm your man
Love of two is one
Here but now they're gone
Came the last night of sadness
And it was clear she couldn't go on
Then the door was open and the wind appeared
The candles blew then disappeared
The curtains flew then he appeared...saying don't be afraid
Come on baby...and she had no fear
And she ran to him...then they started to fly
They looked backward and said goodbye...she had become like they are
She had taken his hand...she had become like they are
Come on baby...don't fear the reaper
