I first want to say I don't believe in spanking as I was spanked as a child and hated it.
My daughter has been a really good girl on the school bus intil now. The bus driver told me today that she was standing up and not listening and talking back.
I talked to her and told her that she can not do this and explained why. I am not to sure if she will listen to me or not.
How do I get her to understand what she is doing is wrong.?

My first piece of advice would be to keep things simple. Don't elaborate, just tell her, "Cassie, I've heard from the bus driver that you've been standing up on the bus, and being disrespectful. Is that true?" After she replies let her know that rules are there for a reason and if she chooses to break them, and chooses to be disrespectful, that there will be a consequence (i.e. no TV that day). Then live up to it.
She's simply testing boundaries. That is what they are supposed to do at that age.

Explain to her that if she disobeys the bus driver and the bus driver has to yell at her, that takes attention off the road which could cause an accident and her and the other children may be injured. You have to explain to her that this is a very serious matter and may cause serious injury, let her know that if she gets hurt you will be very sad. Since its the 1st time she has given you problems i would just consider this a warning, explain to her that if it happens again you will take away something that she enjoys and/or put her in time out. find out the type of discipline that her teacher uses at school. Most kids her age really look up to their teachers and hate their method of punishment, bring that punishment method into your house and see if it works for you.

Discipline her without spanking. I personally believe in spanking in some situtations, and it is very rare; but if you don't that is your choice. However, there are other forms of discipline that don't involve spanking. Take something away from her, give her additional chores (yes, even at 4)...she has to know that there are consequences for her actions. Lecturing her everytime she does something wrong will most likely do nothing to make her understand-she will eventually just learn to tune you out. My children are 8 & 6, and they don't get a lot of spankings, but they do get put on restriction-no TV, no outside play-whatever I think is appropriate for the offense.

Ask her why she is acting like that and explain she should be helping the bus driver and setting a good example for other children on the bus.

Call the principle at her school
tell her what your daughter is doing and that for "some reason " she doesn't understand that this is a bad thing and you would like her to be called into the principles office for a good scare and to let her know that this IS wrong and it will not be tolerated
hope this helps... some times it has to come from someone else to really hit home!!

At that age I would try to tell her that is makes the driver not be able to watch where he is going and that even if she doesn't understand that the rules are set and she has to follow them. Set either a punishment for not following or a reward for following the rules.
