What could it mean? I did stop eating red meat a few months ago...maybe that's why. I eat really good though and I can't figure out why my iron would be low. Any ideas?

From what I read, ferritin measures to amount of stored iron. So your stores of iron are probably lower than normal, but there is enough available for producing a normal amount of hemoglobin.

There may be many reasons why your ferritin is a little low right now: medications, heavy periods, too little iron in your diet, etc., etc. Adding some iron to your diet seems like a good first move, as the previous writer suggested.

Ferritin is a a.k.a. Iron. You can have low iron and still have a normal Hgb (hemoglobin). If you don't take a multi-vitamin w/ iron, could be that's all you need. Getting your Iron levels back up can also help correct any paleness or tiredness you may have been experiencing. Now, please, don't go overboard w/ the iron. Just take the vitamins as directed. Walmart has a good multi-vitamin that is pretty inexpensive. It's called OneSource. Try it and let me know how you feel in a couple days. Sorry for writing a book.
