I see some people at the gym remove their shoes for this exercise. Which method is safest?

a little more detail than a one word response would be appreciated. Also let me know whether or not you are a personal trainor.

Keeping your shoes on in the gym prevents foot injury, foot fungus and stabilizes your body for the stretch.

If you are in your own home, in ballet class or yoga then shoe removal is fine. It's not necessarily safer but it is more sterile and provides more stability.
