I notice this ALL THE TIME. The majprity of black people age so much more gracefully than the majority of white people. And the crazy thing is, white people are always telling me how people say they look younger than they really are and I'm thinking to myself "No, you look OLDER than you really are."

I understand that the answer is simply a genetic thing. I guess my real question is if other people have also noticed that black people seem to age a lot more gracefully than white people.

It may have to do with the difference in the skin between the races. white people's skin tends to take a beating from the sun whereas the black folks have less damage. i learned this from a dermatologist

Also, if you think about a white person when they have been tanning it hides alot of the flaws on the persons body. Due the African American skin tone, it may hide blemishes, lines, wrinkles, and age spots much more gracefully than we do! I think dark skin is so beautiful!

It isn't just black people. Look at many Asians. And it isn't genetic. According to my dermatologist, it has to do with melanin in the skin and how it protects the epidermal layer from UV damage

I think it is due to ultraviolet on the skin. Blacks have some protection against sunlight.
