It is not the place for an atheist to hold any one of any "faith"accountable... just as it is not the business of a Christian to demand any one Not of The Faith be accountable to God's Law except Christians..... all non-Christians are accountable to the Faith of their choosing and to the laws of man
It would not be possable for an atheist, or any one else, to tell if someone was a Christian or not... even another Christian can not know with certainty if another is or not... Only God knows who the True Christians are.
The Bible of The True Christian Faith is any thing but clear in detailing how Christians are to "conduct" themselves... that is why there are thousands of "denominations" of Christians out there.
But There is only One Church.... All who come to God in The Way He prescribes will receive His free gift of Salvation. thjose become part of The Body of The Church of which Jesus The Christ is The Head. Those are The ones of The True Christian Faith. Only those of The Church will enter Heaven

Christians give themselves bad names.
I am a Christian, with the comment of my own a sentence before and from some of the other responses by those here about the Christian being judgmental, I must ask myself, "Are there people outside of the church of Jesus Christ because I'm in it?"
Unfortunately, this is probably true. We do sometimes come across being judgmental and unloving towards those of us around us, particularly those who are not self-professing Christians. Why is this? I believe some take it too personally when we don't see eye to eye on a matter that we strongly believe in.
How does this apply to me personally?
I respond with a question .... What's the difference between a "Christian" and "Non-Christian" ??
It comes down to a relationship and what the relationship results in. Stating the obvious, it's a relationship with Christ Jesus and spending an eternity with him in heaven .... being enabled to enjoy God through Christ forever, this is the difference. Now tie that into what I opened with .........
When we meet somone who is a "non-believer" or "non-christian" we are to love them just as Christ loved tax-collectors, the sick, the lame, and share with them the joy of a relationship that will change life forever. As the scriptures say, "I have not come to call the healthy, but the sick." At this point we become so passionate about our beliefs that when we share it and try to do it on our own power and beliefs, I believe this is when we come across judgmental.
I will always be a sinner and I will never be sinless, but I am called to sin less. How delicate of a balance it is to share the eternal saving power of Christ Jesus and being judgmental.

Although I am not an atheist, I do observe the failure of most Christians to live by what they profess.
Jesus asked his followers one thing. Give up everything else and follow me. How many Christians do that?
There are a few. I have known some nuns and monks and priests who try to live their faith. But all the mouthy fundies I have observed are all just yak yak yak, talking a great Christianity but not living it.
They hide behind the label "evangelicals' as if they are ashamed to be known for what they are, fundamentalists. Then they spend all their energy on telling other people how to live their lives. Meanwhile, they totally ignore the call of Jesus to just follow him.
Phonies and fakes.

A lot of the Christians do NOT practice what they preach. Some of the biggest hypocrites that I know are Christians. They come down hard on others for sinning but then they sin themselves by doing the exact same thing!

Yes. Any of them (with the exception of maybe nuns, clergy, or the Amish) are hypocrites.
There isn't a Christian I've ever met that I couldn't point out many examples of how they do not follow the bible.
It's not a matter of IF they are not following the word of God.
It's to what extent are they not following. Even they will tell you everyone "sins".

Not that it's my business, but...
It depends on which half of the Bible they practice; it's hard to follow both "blessed are the children" as in the NT, and "stone disobedient children to death" as in the OT.
If they rant about Jesus' teachings while constantly condemning others who disagree with anything they say (aka Bro. Randy of T4C), they're probably not practicing "love thy neighbour."

Yes. That's dumb because anytime a Christian didn't live perfectly (which according to them is never because they are all sinners) then someone can say, "oh they're not a real Christian, it's okay"
If you identify as a Christian , you are a Christian, period.

I consider the fact that he/she is a human being just like the rest of us. People are not so different as we are led to believe in this forum. Most people hold similar morals and values, regardless of their beliefs.

Yes, but in day to day life it's not worth mentioning. They can justify anything. And other Christians say, "Oh, they're not *real* Christians".
And anyhoo it's not up to me to hold someone to their own beliefs. It's not my business.
