This is all set up to give us and the Yanks a excuse to attack Iran, it scares me but I reckon we are all secretly building up for the big one. These poor guys are simply pawns in a big game. Their 15 lives will be insignificant when 100'000s die in the coming years. God help us all.

The Brits want to do a deal. Iran is not listening yet but may come around in time. To be honest about it, the captured RN sailors and marines are 'expendable'. Obviously we do not want them harmed and would prefer they be released asap. If this does not happen then who knows. In any event it is not simply a matter of UK pressing the red button. UK is part of NATO and the Alliance in Iraq. The final leadership is the USA and not UK.
We'll just have to wait and see. One thing for sure is that the Brits have more patience than the Iranians. We do not under estimate the sly conniving nature of Persians.

I think that too many other countries like russia and china would put presure on the Uk for us to go to war.
What would be far better but, extremely difficult and dangerous would be a snatch back of our troops.
Im pretty sure we have enough inteligence in Iran to find out where they are and send our guys in to get them out.
Just one problem though- Tony Blair hasnt even half the balls of Maggie Thatcher. She'd have the SAS, SBS, Marines, Paras and all the air power you could want straight in there.
Apart from the fact it could probably ignite WW3 I think it would be possible. And we should do it just to teach Iran a lesson.
Theres one other soloution- pull out of the middle east and just sit back and watch them destroy each other -
Or just send in the nukes!

I would have thought by now that Iran has seen that this little game of politics they have got themselves into has blown up in their faces, using our British marines as pawns in a shallow attempt to get a little room to negotiate the nuclear programme that Iran have running. They should have the decency to hand back our people and make a formal apology to the marines involved, then maybe the rest of the world might begin to see them as reasonable people to deal with instead of terrorists.

One very common trait of these middle Eastern leaders is the tendency to milk every drop of political advantage out of these type of situations. It would not be in Iran's interest to get there collective butts kicked at this time.
I believe there will be some more dog and pony show for the radicals and ultimately they will return the hostages. But you never know. The other trait these people have is a tendency to over play their hand.

me thinks that this is the start of war with Iran, they are begging for it and I think this time the UN are going to go to the party in a big way, you see its all to do with crack pot religious muslims getting the bomb and supporting terror around the globe, this will escalate all the way and the final outcome will be the destruction of Iran, but I still feel that there might be a stop gap after we have taken all their leaders out to give Iran a choice, war or peace.

god that would be a scary thing. america at war in iraq with british support along with afew other countries and britain at war with iran. it dosent bear thinking about. along with all the other wars that are going on around the world at the moment. this world we are living is a truly dangerous place. personally i dont think the english people would be too happy with a british army bogged down in iran like the americans in iraq but hell politicans never listen to its people, so there could be a war yet.

Not really, politicians love to negotiate for good deals until the public are so sick of it, the government will then act opposite to what the public wanted. That's Murphy's Law. Since the main reason for going to war
is over the installation of the nuclear plant we should give a final warning and on the due date just bomb the plant away. End of
problem until they start again.

Yes. But not just the UK, the sailors are there under a UN mandate, therefore they are the property of the United Nations thus maybe a multinational response will be needed.

No, not the Brits. They planned this out from the beginning. Iran purposely took Brits instead of the Americans. This hostage situation will only enrage the west against iran even more.
think about what would have happend if they caputred american soldiers instead of british ones.
