The 427, 428 and 429 motors have to be on the list. As well as the boss 302 motor. The 351C motor too. The 289 (it got the whole thing started) and the introduction of the fuel injected 302. I know the 302 wasn't "a true performance" motor, but look at the following it has. The 5.4, we will count twice as you have the GT 500 version and the all aluminum one in the Ford GT. And lastly, one of my favorites. I really love the 4.6 teksid motors from the 03-04 Cobras.

Of course the 427 side oiler from the 1960s, if you want to go back that far, and how about that little 289 you could get with a Paxton blower, they would really wind up! Then the 351 Cleveland, the 429 and 460 "Big Block Clevelands", the 410 and 428 FE motors, and even the large port 390. Those are the ones I remember. Oh yeah, from wayyyy back how about the Ford flathead V-8, (pre 1954) the hot rodders used to drop into a T bucket or Model A coupe?

The 2 best have to be the 427 SOHC cammer, and the BOSS 429 , both of these engines are very valuable today and worth upwards of $30k each

Great engines usually they come in great cars, here are the TOP 25
