Black Book is used based on the state you live in. For example, my company is located in California which in our state we use Blue Book. Your state my us black book (dealers, Insurance co etc...). All books are made by different sources for you cross reference. The books are also used by lenders to determine the actual value.

The Black Book is suppose to be the most accurate car sales valuation published. It is published weekly instead of quarterly. Prices are based upon sales over the previous week and taken into account are things like the previous few weeks, auction attendance and weather.

You can learn more about them at http://www.blackbookusa.com/aboutus.asp
