At the place Im working at for almost 18months now there is so much gossip and drama, most of the people hate me for 1 reason Ive exposed most of their all boys click as liars and thiefs there are still some left and one has a hold on the boss (blackmail), me and the boss have become friend very very very good friends and they are all really jealous that Im the bosses right hand woman. So they are constantly making up crazy stories about me and my family and even went as far as to go to thr RCMP and make fake claims that I was a crack dealer (last year) anyways Ive almost quit tones of times every time my boss begs pleads and gives me money to put up with it. So I have stayed, what would you do get the people back (not really my style but at this point Im no longer me), quit and run away or just try to tuffen up like my boss tells me to do - he says when your on top everyone wants to take you down

Ok well for one thing your boss is right, everyone will do anything to push the man on top (not that your a man)but what you need to remember is that your not there to make friends your there to work and if doing a good job gets everyone pissed off well then **** them...Never stoop to there level cuase bad carma is a *****.Just brush them haters off and do your job,you can't help it if they choose to be with a loser.About the boss thing? Are you too 'well you know messin around?Cause that is never a good thing,it don't end well and you shouldn't have to sell yourself short, but keep on,keepin on..forget about everyone else.Good luck hope everything works out for you!!!

Wow, seems like quite a predicament you are involved in. At least your boss seems to really appreciate your work. That said, why doesn't he lay those idiots off? Ah, the good old blackmail I see... It is illegal you know, and he could get the law on his side if he wants... But do you really want to crowd your head with all that hassle? Why should you pay the price of those jerks' actions? Why don't you AND your boss quit?
In any case, you should put your own well being first. You're the only one who knows if you can continue putting up with this and ignoring the idiots, or if it's time to find a new job where you will have some good old fashion FUN! I'm sure your boss would understand.
Good Luck!

Your boss is very right when he says that when you're on top, everyone else will want to see you fall- which is why you should not stoop to their level by getting revenge.
However, I do not agree with your boss that he has not tried putting a stop to this harrassment. I think you should tell your boss that if these people will not stop harrassing you, you will have no other choice but to quit. No one should have to put up with that crap in a work place, and your boss should know better. So, talk to him about putting an end to the harrassment, or else you'll consider leaving the job.

your boss is so rite! people are always on the look out for people that can do their job better than them, thus making them try to find ways to push u out the door. U work this job to survive in the real world, not to make sure people like u, their loss... not urs. Just try not to get too close to the boss man, keep it strickly bussiness. Being the bosses best friend only leads to more difficult storys... Like an affair... Something i'm pretty sure u dont want to have to deal with. Best bets are having a new job set up before u quit... Try to start fresh somewhere new...

The boss is the one that should step up in this situation. Where are his balls when it comes to protecting his employees, and slapping down the offenders??
He is the one who sets the tone of a workplace, and it looks like he has just ignored this to the point of chaos. Why is he being blackmailed and why has he let this escalate to that point without calling the police??
It is too bad you have stayed as long as you have and gotten involved as much as you have to where you have been threatened, and what did the boss do for you?? He tells you to "tuffen up". Is he kidding??
For your sanity, you must know that you cannot work there without any of this changing, and I would bet it won't.
Take care, and get out.

Ask for whatever it takes for you to have the problem fixed or rectified by your boss.
Make this "toughen up" boss realize that there is a serious problem that he needs to creatively fix or he will lose you. This sounds like a problem you didn't cause and shouldn't have to go through.
And if he wants to keep you so bad, surely you can find a better job elsewhere if it doesn't work out.

I personally think that you should recommend to your boss to start and lay off people one by one to show that harrassment wont be tolarated in your work area. He has to its the law. Harrassment is in the eye of the harrassey. If your uncomfortable or not happy than your boss being such the good friend he or she is should help you in any way possible. They will start to catch the hint by the second employee that gets layed off. I promise. Tell your boss to do it slowly so that you can train as you go.

So you sleep with the boss to get ahead and now want to crush the little people? Nice girl you are...not.
Whenever someone says "not really my style", it means that is really their "style". No wonder everyone else hates you, except the boss of course.

Sounds to me like you boss is not the only one with a hold on him. If he begs you to stay and gives you more money, he has a hold on you too. You need to decide if the money is worth the stress you so obviously feel. I wouldn't stay. My family is too important for that kind of crap!!!
