Spouses of military, that are not also in the military are not allowed in a combat zone. Spouses that are military and are stationed together are both given combat pay, but it has nothing to do with the fact that they are married to each other. I think that the last round of pay increases has combat pay at around $140 a month. The biggest "pay" issue, is that while a military person is in a combat zone, their pay is exempt from federal income tax.

Military members that go to Iraq get a combat zone tax exclusion and may also get hazardous duty pay and/or hostile fire zone pay. Depending on where the military member gets stationed, they may also get per diem for lodging and meals. Also, any time a military member goes TDY for more than 30 days he/she gets family separation allowance. Too many variables to tell you exactly how much more money a military member may get -- could be just a couple hundred dollars extra per month or it could be in the thousands of dollars per month.

Yes they do but it depends on what rank the service member is. It varies. It's not a lot, but it helps. Anytime that a spouse goes overseas, particularly in combat zones they will recieve extra pay for the "hassle". I know because my husband is overseas right now.

It all depends on what the rank of the person is. Those who are oversea can get paid Combat paid, hazardous pay, hardship pay, etc. Some reservist can even claim housing as extra pay, it'll give them between $500-$850 per month on extra pay.

My husband is deploying in May. He is Active duty Army and this is what we have been told we will get.
Hazardous duty pay - 225
Family separation - 250
Hostile fire pay - 100
Also there are no taxes taken out. Depending on what your husband does there could be other pay. I would suggest going to www.Military.com and looking at their info. They break it down pretty well.

tngirl is right. Thats what my husband has gotten both times he has been deployed. He also gets per diem when he gets back, which is $3.50 per day he was deployed. They fill out the paperwork for that after they get home, and it usually shows up about a month or more after they get home.

That's for active duty Army. I'm not sure if it is different for other branches.

Imminent Danger/Hazardous duty pay was a couple hundred, Family Separation is 250, and tax free is another couple hundred or more.

They get hazardous duty pay and probably seperation pay but don't expect to get rich on it as it isn't that much. You'd make more money delivering newspapers.
