My roommate is ill with we don't know what. Her symptoms are nausea, fever, chills and sweats. She also gets headaches frequently. She has been sick for almost 3 weeks now. She thinks that it is something in our apartment but I have not been sick so I'm really not sure. Does anyone know what this could be?

Those symptoms could be anything. Since the doctors couldn't find anything wrong with her, it must be something around her in your dorm room or the building. Have her switch to another room or building.

sounds like a viral flu (hence why it has been going on for 3 weeks) or before I got phnemonia really bad I felt like for about a month. . .. . Its best to go get her checked out just to be sure, especially since she might be dehydrated. . . . As for you're apartment being the cause of her illness, if its an old building, and there might be chances of toxic mold, (even in a lot of newer places) that can be very dangerous. There could be no symptoms for some people for a long time. So there is a chance that something can be making her ill and not you. . .. I'm gonna bet and say its probably not, but if she sees the doctor they be able to determine exactly what is causing her to be ill. .. I let my 'flu' last for over a month without treating it, ended up developing a horrible case of phnemonia, my lung collapsed under the pressure of the fluid in my lungs, and ended up tearing it, so i had to have a 30,000 surgery to repair it and a 2 week long hospital stay. . .when i should have just went to the doc in the first place. . . so tell you're roomate to be carefull, and try and see the doc if she can ;) I hope she feels better! MAke sure she drinks lots of fluids, dont let her get dehydrated that can be very damaging and dangerous

The fever worries me - for 3 weeks. Sounds like she should just head to the MD and get looked at. It would be more comforting to hear them say it's viral etc.. then a stranger on here.

However a flu or bad cold that turns in to a 2ndary infection needs an antibiotic.

Otherwise those things are usually gone in 7-10 days.

She needs to have an MD rule out the rest. I can't think of anything in the apartment that would make her sick and not you.. so she needs to see a MD. Don't put it off another day.
So she can start to feel better.

In the mean time clear liquids, motrin, and rest.

The flu has been going around and sometimes people have it for a few weeks. Food poisening is out of your system within 48 to 72 hours. I would take her to the doctor because of the temp she keeps getting. Could also be a infection. Don't wait take her in to see a doctor.

Just take her to the ER. At least at the hospital they can run some tests on her and might be able to figure out what's going on with her. For all we know it could be appendicitis, flu, gallbladder problems. pancreatitis, septic infection, etc. If this has been going on for 3 weeks, she needs some blood work done. Especially if she's been feverish for 3 weeks.

It could be anything...allergies, flu, anything. If her symptoms have not gotten better in 3 weeks time, then she should see a doctor as her problems may be more serious.

Maybe a mold issue or something. It's hard to say...those symptoms can indicate alot of things. If she's had them for 3 weeks, she needs to go to the doctor. Even if it's mold, it can be a very dangerous thing...

I would tend not to say food poisoning since it's been 3 weeks, but you definetely do want to consider something serious. Get her to a DR now. You might even think about Mono...

What is the problem with her seeing a Doctor? No one can diagnose her problems properly without examining her and maybe doing tests.
