When studying psychology in college it eventually became apparent that one of three choices would have to be made. Option#1 choose a teacher to follow (i.e. freud). option#2 eclectic approach (pull bits and pieces from all the different schools of thought and mix in a few of your own for good measure). Option#3 start from scratch and come up with your own. Obviously option#3 is the least popular because most of us are intimidated by the prospect of thinking for ourselves. Trying to come up with better questions to ask takes time, patience and effort. I haven't witnessed any success with the first 2 approaches.

I think the answer lies very succinctly (nicely) in the answers you have received. Man creates religions so what s/he believes in depends entirely on their own mind-set. You have to ask yourself WHY? you believe in anything other than yourself. The answer(s) will tell you which religion to adopt to suit your needs at any time. Good resolutions.

I believe in many things, the force of life and I say Oh god about 10 times a day, so Im not sure what that makes me.
I think it is nice we can believe in things, makes us all a little happier and more secure.

It is a growing trend.

Cafeteria-ism.

People want to pick and choose what like from this, that and the other faith. Disregard what they don't like.

Sort of "religion salad" if you ask me.

That's why so many are confused. They lack proper formation in any one faith.

I think they are all at least a little bit wrong and most are at least a little bit right. There could be one out there that is completely right. I personally believe in all of them partly.
