Or am I what I do with that knowledge? What if I was raised different? Taught different stuff? Had a teeny tiny chromesonal abnormality that made me very slighty autistic and/or a genius? Where would the " I " that I am right now be?

You are not that body, the body is temporary, and whatever you do with that body, whatever you have learned or do with that knowledge, is also temporary is finished at the end of your life, when you die. But "YOU" the person, the spirit soul, is eternal full of knowledge and happiness. And if you practice spiritual life with "your body", then your body is the vehicle for eternal life.

ok, one more time, i'll tell everyone the game rules

Life is a game, you start out with full grace points, and zero knowledge of evil points. You choose your game piece (body) before play, choosing a handicapped game piece is worth extra points.

Those who end their turn with max remaining grace points and low knowledge of evil points win.

Grand prize is a seat in heaven.

Terms and Conditions: There can be multiple winners, chances of winning depend on how faithfully the game is played.

There is no inherently existing "I"... we're all a "heap of parts" (so to speak) that we tack the label "I" onto. Understanding this is the path that leads to letting go of a lot of the suffering we experience from contracting around our egos to protect that sense of self-cherishment we're so used to wallowing in.

The Buddha taught this is the first steps to a "cure" to suffering.

The only permanent thing about you is the mind-self. You are the driver of the body. The condition of the body is irrelevant. The "I' is everywhere and nowhere.

I don't know what I am, only that I exist. From my observations of the world, it appears that I am my body and nothing more. This may or may not be the case.

You are correct. Now what you do with it is the big question. Take care of it or throw it away?

The Gospel
The word "gospel" means "good news", and it is the message that we can be saved from sin and hell and that we can receive the joys of living with God while we are on earth as well as eternal life in heaven.

This is for everyone. It does not matter what background you came from or how much has been wrong in your life up until now. God does not want anyone to go to hell. He loves every human being and wants to save every one of us.

Some people have trouble understanding the gospel because they don't understand the problem that the gospel solves. We need to understand what the problem is before the solution will make any sense.

Look around you. You won't have to look very far to find examples of how much evil there is in the world. People act in ways that hurt one another. People suffer from the misery of things like guilt, fear, depression, envy, anger, physical sickness, etc.

What causes this? Why do people act that way? Why do we have all those painful feelings? The Christian answer is that it is because we humans have separated ourselves from God. We have turned our backs on Him. We have shut Him out of our lives.

You may be thinking that you haven't really done anything against God. Possibly you weren't consciously trying to do anything against God, but every human being is a part of the problem, even though some of them don't know it. We are born that way. We are corrupted because the parents who gave us birth were also corrupted.

You may be thinking that you aren't any worse than most of the others around you. That is probably true, but from God's point of view, since he wants perfect people in heaven, a person who has committed only one small sin is just as much unacceptable in heaven as is a person who has comitted many big sins. God doesn't give grades of B or C. The only grades God gives are A+++++ and F. We are either totally flawless or else we have failed.

By that standard, if you look into your own soul honestly, I expect that you won't have any trouble recognizing that you are a sinner. All of us who are Christians have recognized that. We can't be Christians without first admitting our sinfulness.

What, then, has been done about this? Are we destined to keep on suffering from these evils forever? We don't have to! Jesus has made it possible for us to be set free from our sin so that we can have joy and peace both now and after we die.

Jesus Christ is both man and God. He was born on earth about 2000 years ago as a baby boy, but he is also fully God. He taught his disciples how to be free from sin and how to live joyful, holy lives on earth. He healed their physical sicknesses and showed them the way to heaven.

Then he was executed by crucifixion. This crucifixion was the worst injustice that has ever happened on earth. Jesus certainly didn't deserve it! He was perfect. He was sinless. He died in order to pay the penalty for the sins committed by all of the rest of us. He took our guilt upon himself, and died to reconcile us to God.

Then, two days later, he arose from the grave. His resurrection overcame death and made it possible for all of us to live forever with him in heaven. Jesus ascended into heaven after his resurrection, and he is there now. Jesus will return to earth again. He will judge all of us, and those who have accepted and followed him will live with him in heaven forever. Those who have rejected him will spend eternity in hell.

That leaves each of us with a tremendous opportunity and with a desperately important choice to make. God has done his part. He offers this salvation to each and every one of us. We have to choose to accept it, however, before it can work for us.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
John 3:16, KJV

The gospel says that in order to receive eternal life and salvation from sin we have to do these things: admit that we are sinners, be honestly willing and ready to stop committing sins, believe that Jesus died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins and that he arose from the grave to save us and to give us eternal life, accept Jesus as our Lord and Saviour, and allow God to change us into the kind of people he wants us to be.

Are you ready to do these things? If so, just pray. Tell God that you want to accept Jesus as your Lord. Put it in your own words. If you make this choice sincerely, God will not reject you.
