Very relevant. Civil Engineers built civilization. Just drive down the road and almost everything you see is because Civil Engineers design it. Even things you don't see or think about on a regular basis are because of Civil Engineers.
The roads and bridges that you drive on are designed by Civil Engineers, the Water plant, the Wastewater treatment facilities, all commercial buildings, dams, levees, flood control systems, stormwater drainage systems, coastal erosion control systems, railroads, transportation systems, airports, etc.

Civil engineering will always be a relevant profession. It has been around since Roman times, will be around in the foreseeable future. Many things we all enjoy are directly design/developed by civil engineers. The water we drink, the roads and bridges we drive on, the houses we live in, the buildings we work in, and many other structures. It is a professions that adapts and accepts new technology and applies it for the benefit of everyone.
