Well, if you were a true atheist, then you wouldn't give a rip about the content on this board. It would be utterly irrelevant to how you conduct your life, and you wouldn't devote a seconds thought to it.

By your very presence here, and by your question, it means that subject actually interests you deeply. And not in a skeptical manner either.

So let's start with this. I believe that there is a guiding intelligence and spirit in the world far beyond my personal comprehension. It is what gives us consciousness.

We also know that the universe had an absolute beginning. And, as physicists have recently uncovered, it will have no end. So we know that the Big Bang was a singular occurance, never to be repeated again in eternity. It was, in all senses of the world, an act of creation.

Now, all faiths are an attempt to explain these two concepts, and our place in it.

All faiths contain a nugget of truth, whether in a moral code, an approach to the question of our consciousness before and after death, or the point behind our all-too-short lives.

Atheism is essentially a disconnection from all this. I certainly don't subscribe to the viewpoint that Atheists cannot be moral. I've known very moral Atheists and known very immoral people who were allegedly Christian. Yet it supposes that all of life is an accident, and that our very existence is nothing more than an elaborate string of coincidences. I don't know about you, but I don't believe in coincidences. Even Jung wrote of Synchronicity. To me, that's just another word for a collective consciousness beyond me.

So I would invite to you believe in something beyond yourself. I'm not asking you to be dunked in the river by a Baptist preacher or to shave your head, don orange robes, and bang a tambourine in airports. I'm not asking you to abandon rationality or the enjoyment of life.

Instead, I submit to you, that you should explore these questions with an open heart and a discerning mind. Maybe you'll decide that Atheism is the way to go. Or you'll find a brave faith that asks questions, rather than hide behind the wall of literalism. I became an Episcopalian for that very reason.

Not believing there is a God or Creator does not mean that it isn't so. Becoming religious will also send a person to hell. Whether you accept the fact that we are all born sinners doomed to hell because sin has been born into us, we must be cleansed. Under Jewish Law each year people who wanted this cleansing brought forth an animal sacrifice and with the shed blood of the animal, a covering of the sin took place buit only until God would send forth His only begotten SON Jesus and He being born sinless was crucified being innocent of any wrong and put to death. Why? For you and me. He took the punishment for sin, he took the beating, he died a sinners death so we could be set free from sin and be made true kings unto Him now and forever! And Jesus paid this price so you and He could be together forever as brothers now and in His coming Kingdom. Those who reject His shed blood will die sinners and will not be able to enter the Place where God dwells. So the choice has to be made, and it is according to the right of every human being and they will be held accountable for this choice and we are able to choose life in Christ or remain dead to God, His Son and in this state be separated from everlasting life forever.. So religion is vain but having a real relationship with God the Father and Jesus His Son, is only when life begins...

It doesnt matter what religion you pick to follow- Religion is simply believing there is something out there bigger that you and me and everything on this world- something that feels right and humbles you to the point that you understand we as human beings need eachother to be happy. Once you realize this , then you'll find the right way to make yourself and others around you feel welcomed, at peace, and content with what life you have been etitled to. It does not matter how you do this- all religions have this in common. BUT BE CAREFUL. Being religious also means believing there are evil forces among us trying to trick us into believing that doing evil can bring good. Know the difference, study them and learn them.
If you ask me, I think you are already a little bit religious- you seem to be looking for something outside of yourself, and that is the first step on being enlighten.

Atheist does not believe in God. So, I cannot recommend you to be religious. A person may believe that there is someone in the unviverse that has to be the reason for the things animate and inanimate that are here in this world though he may not be in any religion. At the moment, I can tell you that as long as you are a better person and you know the importance of life on earth with regards to your relationship to people and things maybe you are better off without one.

Why do you need a religion,? Do you think it will make your life any happier?

Personally i think that only yourself can really make you happy, and to be at peace with yourself you have to have faith in yourself and peace of mind with your own beliefs.

Many might suggest being a christian is the best thing, many may suggest the jahovah´s witnesses. But when it all comes down to it, it is really how you view life on the whole.

New age religion, one that doesn´t conform to the christian faith or any along that line works for me and although still requiring a little faith, is more logical than the more orthodox beliefs.

Every religion has it´s good points and bad points but my belief has fewer of the bad. Some will laugh at it, but it is no funnier than the others. Some will knock it, but as i said it has more logic than most and can certainly answer more questions.

But when it comes down to it the choice is yours. Question everything look for the logic in all and then choose the best that suits. But i have a feeling you will remain an atheist, and what is that?! just someone who doesn´t believe in God, a God chosen by various faiths.

Believe in yourself, live right and you aren´t really an atheist for to believe in yourself and live good is to believe in a God.

added in response to this comment. " do u not know that 99.9 percent of atheists renounce atheism on their death bed im glad ur plannin to change ur life now "

What´s that got to do with the price of cheese?! It´s only just incase insurance.

I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. One of my good friends was an atheist and he came to church activities all the time. He liked it a lot. Many many people say coming to an LDS church is like having an extended family. The church is the same no matter where you go on earth. They always have activities for all ages and if there's nothing going on you can always organize some BBQ or sporting event or game night etc.

Just to warn you though--Members don't drink alcohol or smoke or watch porn etc. No one will force you to join or anything, but every now and then someone will ask you if you're interested in learning more about the gospel.

If you are truly searching to find truth then there is no better place to look. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the only church on earth with the fulness of the restored gospel. You can know for yourself, through sincere prayer.

Atheist means you don't believe in a God at all (I know a few atheists that didn't know that, so just to clarify).

If there is no God, then I can take a watch, put it in a bag, smash it with a hammer until it's dust, then shake the bag for all eternity and it will become the exact same watch that it was before I smashed it. The logic behind that is that there's a 1 in infinity chance that the watch came from nothing and became a watch in the first place. The illogic is that the watch is so complex and intricate that there's no possible way it could have come from nothing.

Now look at the earth. The being upon it and their complex organs. Look at the galaxy and how things orbit our sun. There are SO MANY minute details, that our very orbit should not exist. Look at the universe and how unbelievably detailed in order it is. You know why things are so spiraled and don't orbit the center in strange ways as to collide? How they all decided to orbit in the same direction? What keeps the moon from being destroyed by comets, meteors, and asteroids, or losing its orbit around the earth? What keeps your stomach from digesting itself? Have you seen the Canus Majoris star's size in comparison to our sun, and then our earth?

If you want to hear some really convincing evidence for God's existence, I suggest reading "The Case For A Creator" by Lee Strobel, who was an atheist who set out to prove God didn't exist because he believed science and reason proved everything.

Whatever you do, don't become merely religious. There's a million more times hope for a sincere atheist than for a merely "religioius" person. The only reason in the universe for you turning to God is if God calls you, you hear his still, small voice, and respond sincerley. There are lots of us on this site praying that your question was not simply mischievous, but sincere.

The answer depends on what an individual is looking for.

The reasons are many, but most often it's a feeling of disconent or "searching for something". If that's the case, try asking your religious friends about thier faiths.

Sometimes it's a testimony of miracles; however, that reason has a short shelf life.

Only you can know your reasons for wanting religion.

You should become "religious". You should accept the Lord your saviour!! How can you live day to day with no reason. You know God put you on this earth for a reason right? Well, if you arent living for God, you are living with out a purpose! Our purpose is to follow God! He sent His son to die for us! For our sins! I am a Christian, and i must say, it is wonderful to know that i am not going to burn in hell for the rest of eternity after i die! I accepted Jesus as my personal saviour, knowing that He died for my sins and rose three days later, and He is coming back soon! I am glad that i am ready for His return, knowing that i will be caught up in the clouds with Him! I just finshed reading the book of Luke, and it really opened my eyes even more! I encourage you to read it, and I'm sure that the Lord will open your eyes too! Obviously He is working in you already, because you are looking for Him by asking this question. You are wanting someone to show you that the way you are living is wrong and that you need Jesus. Thats not saying that i think i am perfect either, we all need God's grace, and He gives it to whoever believes in Him and accepts Him! I really encourage you to get into the Lord. He loves you and wants a personal relationship with you! Go to your local chruch, and i'm sure that they will welcome you! The angels in heaven rejoice even over one person turning to God! I hope this helps you and God bless you!!
