One moment she wants your attention, the next she wants you to stay away. I cn never hold her for long or she jumps off?

Then there is my boyfriend who has a jealous problem with the bond that me and my cat have. she sometimes will jump on my lap purring and put her face against my neck, and he gets jealious and tries to distract her so she jumps off. Should i be worried???

If you mean literally the next moment after she gets attention she doesn't want anymore, she could just be overstimulated. This is quite common with cats. You can build her tolerance to petting by stroking her once or twice and then giving her a treat, pausing about 30 seconds, then repeating. Over time you should be able to slowly increase how long you pet her before she gets a treat, then phase out the treats.

As far as your boyfriend, yes, I think you should be worried. He feels threatened by a cat?!? Unless you have been going out for ten years and he has never shown any jealousy toward your friends or family, I think this is a big warning sign.

About the boyfriend, yes.

About the cat, no: Some cats don't like to be held too much, but do like it in small doses.

Seriously, if the boyfriend is going to be jealous of a cat, at best he is a possessive little BOY that needs to get a life. And you don't need to be saddled with him.

It could be that the cat wants you to pet him in a certain way, and when you don't, she jumps off. My cat loves you to pet him on his head and rub his face. But when you try to pet or rub his body, he doesn't like it, and he'll leave.
The more you get to know her, the closer you guys will get. As far as the boyfriend, I think he has issues...he shouldn't be jealous of a cat.

Your cat is just being a cat, fickle creatures that they are.

Your boyfriend is another matter entirely. The jealousy thing may go way deeper than that. Is he jealous of your friends or family as well? If so, I'd keep the cat and dump the boyfriend.

You shouldn't be worried about your boyfriend , unless he would take it as far to kill your cat lol. But some cats like to be cuddled but to some extent. If it comes to you then pet it just to get grabby with it or it will back away.

About the cat, no they're funny animals, they have these little mood swings. About the boyfriend, yes, they are funny animals with funny moods too but he sounds a bit needy to me.

Yes you should be worried. Any boyfriend that can't love your pet, is not a good boyfriend. Think carefully before further committment with him.

There's an old saying: If you can't stand to be ignored, don't own a cat. Not to mean YOU own a cat--she owns you! But I think you get my drift.

Tell him to get over it. It sounds very childish to me.
