I wouldn't give a child that young gummy bears. They are difficult to chew and would be a choking risk. There are many liquid vitamin supplements for young toddlers available. Most children that eat a fairly balanced diet do not need supplements. I only give my kids vitamins when they go on a food fad and will only eat, say, Ritz crackers and bananas for a week.

No, you should not. First, these do not dissolve in the mouth. 2nd, she will not have all of her major chewing skills down and could choke on it.
If her diet is good, she doesn't need a supplement. Talk to the doctor though. We were told not even to start doing it until about 3 or 4. We don't give him the gummies because he thinks they are candy and wants more of them.

My daughter loves gummy vitamins. I only just now started giving them to her (at 2 yrs, 10 months) because they are a BIG choking hazard. The bottle says right on it not to give it to children under 2 years of age, and some bottles say not to give them to children under 3 years of age. This isn't because toddlers don't need vitamins, it's because of the choking hazard! My daughter weaned herself from breastfeeding at 11 months, and from that age until about a month ago, I used to put Polyvisol (with Iron) drops in her juice every morning to get her the vitamins she needs. She's a VERY picky eater and the vitamin put my mind at ease. Now she thinks the gummy vitamins are candy, so I have to watch her!
My 14-month old son is still breastfeeding, so he doesn't need a vitamin. I just take my prenatal multivitamin, and he gets everything he needs in the breastmilk for now. He drinks juice out of a cup, too, so I if he decides to wean himself before I feel he is ready for gummy vitamins, I'll give him the drops in his juice, too.
If your baby drinks cow milk, formula, or even better -- breastmilk, he's probably getting all the calcium he needs. If not, there are other ways to get it in, if calcium is the only vitamin you are worried about. My daughter LOVES the Minute Maid Kids Plus orange juice -- and it is fortified with calcium and other vitamins. I water it down about half juice, half water for her, and about 1/4 juice, 1/4 water for my son. The fruit juice we use is also fortified (Motts makes a Kids + fruit juice that my kids love). Don't forget the natural ways to get calcium, too -- my son loves string cheese (I think it feels good on his one-year molars coming in right now!) and yogurt, broccoli, okra, oranges, and beans all have caclcium, too.
Good luck, I hope I helped!

When my son was 15 months the doctor told me it was fine to give my son vitamins, so I give my son..the Flinstone vitamins, just because he took the gummy ones out of his mouth and put it on the carpet. But its totally safe to give your child a vitamin.

Read the package before you buy it. It will usually say do not give to children under such or such an age. If it at all says under the age of one consult your Dr. I wouldn't give it to your child. Just wait it out until your child becomes of age to give the item to it. If you really think your child needs them, call your Dr. and ask if it would be alright.

Sounds like a choking hazard. I strongly advise against it.
