Most kike tires are the tube type. Normally you have to get the tube out of the tire. This can be done by raising the bead away from one side of the tire and then pulling it out by hane. Once out you fill it with air and hold it under water to find the bubbles/leak. You can buy a patch kit at wal-mart, hobby stores, even car parts. Follow the directions for patching and then insertback into the tire. Be carefol not to twist the tube in the process. Fill with air and you are on your way. The first time you do this it will take about 3-4 hours, mostly learning time.

You can carry a small patch kit, or as most of us do we carry an extra tube and change the punctured one then inflate with a small hand pump or a CO2 cartage. Don't forget to carry the old tube out for proper disposal.

1) Take wheel off of bike
2) Take one side/bead of tire off of wheel-- use tire levers to help pry bead over rim
3) discard the punctured tube-- much better off this way. Patches are iffy and will more than likey become a problem in the furure
4) pump a little air in new tube-- just enough to give it shape
5) put new tube inside exposed tire, valve thru hole first
6)work tire and tube bak onto rim with hands, bakeing sure not to pinch the tube-- you should not need levers to get it back on
7) inflate tire to recommended pressure
