I awoke to ANOTHER dead kitten from the litter of 4 again today. And ironically, it was the BIGGEST of the four when they were first born. I have no idea what is going on. It was eating fine yesterday, and then BAM it's dead this morning. There is only 1 left. I am very upset that THREE have died without any previous warning.
Help please!

I tried to bottle feed the last one that died, but it would have none of that. And I can't afford to take it to the Vet.

Some of you people are idiots. The mama was a STRAY cat that we took in while she was sick. She got better and before you knew it, she was pregnant. Don't tell me about being responsible. I know what I can and cannot do. But some of you people are tasteless, ruthless, pieces of you know what theat could care less about people and their feelings or financial situations. May God have mercy on a few of yall's souls. And for the others that have given their insight, I appreciate it a lot, thanks.

As a general rule a kitten should have about 8cc's of formula per ounce of body weight per day.It is ok for the little guy to be reluctant to suckle.
Use a sterilized bottle & nipple.
Warm the formula to body temperature.
Put the bottle in the microwave for ~10 seconds and test on your skin
Place the kitten on its stomach on a towel & allow it to cling. He may "knead" its paws on instinct.
Let the kitten place its paws on your leg as it nurses.
Open the mouth gently with the tip of your finger and slip in the nipple. If your kitten refuses to suckle, try rubbing his/her forehead vigorously or stroke its back (this is what the mother does when cleaning the kittens and often stimulates the kitten to nurse). You may hear a "clicking" noise, which means the kitten is ready to nurse.

I'm afraid sometimes even seemingly healthy kittens do die suddenly. They call it 'fading kitten sydrome', it's like human cot death. The fact that more than one kitten has died however suggests there may be something else going on, like a virus.
I'm afraid only a vet can help, if anyone can. I know you're furious with people for saying you shouldn't have a pet you can't afford - but the fact of the matter is pets often ARE expensive, and if you don't want the heartbreak of what is happening now it's best not to do this if you can't afford it - for yours AND the animal's sake.

Take the mom and kitten to the VET quickly unless you want the last one to die. Tell them before hand you don't have the money to pay but you can set up a payment plan. Call an SPCA or humane society in your area and they can set you up with a low-cost vet who will help you out. If you care about the kitten and the mom call ALL the vets you can in your area until you find one that will help. Make sure to tell them that you love you cat very much and that 3 have died already and you don't want this one to die. Your final option is to give the kitten and mom to the vet or spca so they will get the care they need, even though you won't have them anymore.

Sorry, but this just bleeds out irresponsibility. If you couldn't afford the vet in the first place, what would make you think that you would be able to afford a cat that was going to have kittens?
This is precisely* why spaying/neutering is so important.
In any case, try to call your local vets office and see if they'd be willing to work out a payment plan with you. Many places will, and you seriously need to take the cat and the kitten in for a check-up.

You are to be congratulated for taking in this stray cat. Sometimes when cats are outside they can get diseases that show no symptoms in adults but kittens die. One of these is FIP. Feline Infectious Peritonitis. The kittens bellies look swollen and they seem to be gaining weight and then all of a sudden they're listless and die. You may lose all of the kittens. The adults can be carriers and can be perfectly fine, but any kittens they have will not survive, and they can infect other adults through contact. If you do not intend to keep this cat (and I wouldn't if I had other cats) you should take her to an Animal Shelter, specifically because of the possibility she could infect other cats.

they needed their mommy, if the mommy is not around take it to a resuce place asap. i know how it feels cause my sister had a cat and had kittens and the two that were bigger died and i had the smallest. she was 4-5 weeks old and no matter what you do it won't help, you need to take it to a rescue shelter that can find a nursing mom for her or she won't make it. i was to late for mine, i never found out about the rescue place until the day before her death. :( please take my advice.
i found that my vet didn't want to do nothing cause of the size of my kitten, they wanted to put her down so i don't think they will help. I'm hoping you get her in, in time and not like me that found out the last moment. How old is she??? how is she acting???

Sometimes these things just happen.
Mamma Kitty could be a carrier for Feline Leukemia or a host of other diseases that could cause the kittens to pass away. Chances are, there is nothing that you could have done or can do to change this fact.
It is heartbreaking, I know, but now Mamma Kitty has a home. Take care of her and she will take care of you.

I think these kittens died of crib death, it is so sad, I don't love or like or hate kitties, I just think they are pets for girls. I could be wrong but I cannot see myself walking around with a cat and petting it, meow meow. I think a dog may have frightened those poor kittens and shocked them. I love the cat woman though on that Batman movie, she was so hot and cool, that Michell Pfifer (I think that name may be mispelled some, sorry) and boy, I wouldn't mind if she was my kitty cat, I'd take good care of her and I would make sure that she got no fleas. But I'm sorry about your kittens though and I believe that there may be a reason why they were not destined to live in this world, maybe it was because of the fleas they'd get through their life time had they lived.

that incident happened to us many times to our kittens that dies after each other. till now we dont know the reason, thru experienced when our cat breed and have kittens, we make sure that they have a lot of cloth to warm them, as kittens needs very warm place, they dont like wide place, just take small carton and place cloth around and make sure the mother cat is feeding them well. i dont believe too much in vets. im better than vet. thru experience. vets are only after money ( of course not all )..

OMG, I am sorry, that must be horrifying. If you can, take them to the vet for tests, if there isn't any obvious trauma. if there is you may want to seperate the sole survivor from mom unless she is feeding it, and monitor feeding time. Are you feeding momma cat any of that tainted food?
