My question is, HOW do I get some motivation back? (you need motivation to exercise, esp since I HATE exercising)

B the best thing you can do is to start smoking again. When you do you will loose that extra weight and get your motivation back. Smoking is an extention of your personality and from what you are implying is that with cigarettes in your life you were a vibrant indepedent woman on the go. Its obeious not time for you to quit and your body is telling you this. So go out and buy a pack today and a nice lighter and get back int he groove of life.

It doesn't sound like you've lost yourself, you're no doubt still there, but you could be suffering from a form of depression, which is very common especially during the winter months when the light levels are low. It can often make you feel like you're not enjoying any of the activities that you used to enjoy and make it hard to find the motivation to do anything. You could try getting a light box, or getting yourself outside more for walks to get some blue light, which may help lift low moods. You also try some St John's Wort, which is a herbal supplement for depression.

I have a lot of friends who quit smoking and lost motivation because thats the one thing they love to do. But you have to motivate yourself again into doing other things that you like. And exercising would always be nice to do so that you can get your mind off of other things that might be making you lazy.

When my father quit and he got cravings, he'd eat cough drops to remind him of how he used to cough when he smoked. It motivated him to stay on the wagon and also kept him from eating other things.
