To doubt is to lack confidence in or distrust. There are many things in the world that it is ok to mistrust or doubt, but having doubts about your faith in God is a sin because doubt will prevent you from following the will of God in your life.

Doubt is declared a sin because if a person has no doubt they are totally open to manipulation.

Where as, in every other field of life we are told to be skeptical. (except for advertising, speaks volumes)

If a politician said he / she was the chosen one to lead the country and it is a sin not to vote. Would you?

Science is all about skepticism. Its very base is to disprove a theory. Only when you cannot find anything to disprove it does it stand. Even then it must be re-examined and verified, internationally by pier group bodies.

Yes..with a qualifier. That is the "doubting" is with regards to faith, not all aspects of life.We all doubt and question diverse things at times, and that is not sinning.Staying in God's Word and researching and studying issues brings us closer to Christ.Every year my trust in the inerrancy of Scripture grows by leaps and bounds.

Doubt means you are questioning the right of the Church to control every aspect of your life and live in luxury at your expense. It takes a lot of peasants to support one King, the survival of the church depends on absolute unquestioning obedience by the congregation, doubt threatens there livelihood.

You answered your own question.

But yes, if you doubt then you are not exercising that measure of faith given to you by Jesus. It is also a form of unbelief.

Not cool.
