I am writing my senior thesis on the recently passed bill HR6061, and ultimately have to decide whether or not the United States should build a border wall between the US and Mexico. It was passed in the Senate with a vote of 96-3. I have read many studies and have a lot of statistics, but I want to know what the "average person" thinks. I am hoping to get the opinion of those around the country and around the world. Please let me know what you think and why. Thanks!

Build a wall and keep the Americans out of Mexico. No wall has ever worked anywhere inthe world. History says this is a waste ot time and an illusion of fantasy to propose, build and expect the wall to work. It will be an employment bill for contractors using tax funds. It will psychologically provide some solice in the USA for the most recent successful immigrants (white anglos) trying to keep out the next newest immigrants (brown Latinos).

A fence is a nonsense approach to current economic and social realities of inequity. It is a clear, open declaration of war and will ensure increased illegal immigration.

To make the fence work, it will have to be armed. Is the USA ready to openly and shamelessly shoot to kill men, women and children trying to escape poverty? That must be one strong definition of the devil. See Israel's experience and their ongoing high cost to define their own stolen nation.

Every person who wants to legally come to the United States to better themselves has the option to do so. Granted the legal way of doing things, might take longer to accomplish. For a person to violate another countries right to have closed borders, makes that person a criminal in the country and to the people in that country. Since each country has a right to restrict who does and doesn't enter their country, then building a physical barrier to aid in that right is justified. Illegal aliens entering the country can and often get the rights of a citizen, without having to pay their fare share for those rights. Taxes, insurance premiums, licenses, etc., that have been placed on the citizens of a country, should not be handed to a criminal. Build a wall, put alligators in it, lions, and tigers, and anything else that will help eliminate the problem.
Sure, we need people who are willing to do manual labor at jobs that most Americans don't want to do, but they can come here legally and do those jobs. Think of how much money would be saved, if there were No illegal aliens in the country or trying to get into the country.

A state of the art fence built the entire length of the border would be optimal but that's pretty impractical . Although the cost to build it and man it would be paid by the savings to the border states and the federal government in less costs for all the programs that the illegals make full unrestricted use of now. Fences do work. On the border where stretches of fences are already erected,it has been proved to be a deterrent to crossings by illegal aliens. Yes they can go around them, but if we keep on building them then there will be no way to go around them. Fences DO work .

Also absolute zero tolerance and enforcement of our federal laws against any one hiring ,aiding, and abetting any and all illegal aliens. ZERO tolerance.

I'm neutral on the subject. I believe that immigration laws have become extremely discriminatory. It's far easier to get a visa if you are coming from Europe than if you are coming from South America or Latin America, and I don't think that's fair. I don't see any major reason why a fence would be a bad idea, I just don't think having the National Guard police it is cost effective or in the best interest of our homeland security.

It is not a wall.....personally I wish it was. It is a fence. Yes it needs to be built since respect for our border isn't there and with this invasion....I doubt it ever will. It may not put a halt to things but it will curb it. It would also curb the ease of drug traffic. "Virtual" fences are nothing but video cameras filming the invasion and are useless. If it doesn't work I would opt for shoot to kill.
