Well I hope you don't live in Texas. Because if so, think of another career because being a cop would be a NO! As far as your concern, I don't think you can be a cop with a felony under your belt. The courts are putting teenagers on trial as adults now. So I'm thinking maybe you need to investigate that situation a little more. Just do the research on the web. I'm sure you'll get all the information that you need.

Well, yes, everyone makes mistakes, but not everyone has felony convictions. Obviously, I can't speak for every single police department in the US, but I'd have to say no. Even if you found a department who would be willing to overlook this, (I can't imagine why since there are a lot of people w/o felony convictions who want to be police officers) most states (if not all) have laws regarding felons not being able to possess a firearm.

Yeah I'm sure everyone makes mistakes, I make em' too. With a felony on your record I don't think its possible to become a cop or work in the Criminial Justice field, that's what I think.

I don't know. I doubt it. Yes, everyone makes mistakes although, in fairness, I wouldn't hire someone for a law enforcement job one year after his conviction on felony drug charges. After ten years, provided he was clean and demonstrated through deeds as well as words that he was a changed man, then I would consider it.

Because your conviction was as an adult there are state and federal laws which prohibit a convicted "felon" from carrying a firearm.
As such, you would not be able to become an officer.

...and some mistakes prevent one from being employed in certain fields. Police work is one of them. Everyone makes mistakes. It's just that some make bigger ones than the rest of us.
Look into another career. Police work is not for you.

Maybe not as a cop, but try the Texas Youth Commision as a guard.
