SICK OF RBS AND WOULD LIKE AN ACCOUNT THAT WOULD GIVE ME CREDIT!
I DO HAVE A CCJ FROM ABOUT 4 YEARS AGO WHEN I GOT A LOAN AND THEN WAS MADE REDUNDANT 3 MONTHS LATER WITH ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING.
I GET A VERY DECENT SALARY NOW AND AM REPAYING THE CCJ BUT CANNOT GET EVEN A DEBIT CARD NEVER MIND THE LOAN I WOULD SO LIKE TO GET TO PURCHASE A NEW CAR.
WAS TOLD ALLIANCE AND LEICESTER WOULD BE ABLE TO HELP BUT CANNOT EVEN GET PAST THE BASIC CASH ACCOUNT WITH THEM.
WOULD EVEN CONSIDER A PAYG CREDIT CARD BUT BECAUSE I AM LIVING IN A NEW PROPERTY CANNOT EVEN GET ONE OF THOSE.
CAN ANYBODY POINT ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION PLEASE.
THANKS MARK

You have not been given very good advice about debit cards and credit cards. I have just given the RBS the bums rush because of their incompetence.
What you need to do is type in basic bank accounts and it will list who will give you a debit card. They are: Natwest, Halifax,Yorkshire, Abbey, and Co-op. These allow you to buy goods online shop and get cash back.
For a prepaid credit card, go to www.mycashplus.co.uk. You will need driving licence and utility bill. A utility bill from your previous address would suffice. You can apply online and prove ID and address at Post Office.
I would also apply for a basic bank account online as well. Trying to get those brain dead automatons to do anything in a branch is nigh on impossible.
I also have a CCJ thanks to some scroat stealing my ID I have lived with a basic bank account and a prepaid credit card. I wouldn't go back.

You need to pay off the CCJ as soon as possible and get the debt registered as 'satisfied' on your Credit Rating.
