If so, how does that happen?

Sort of, water will help your body function, keep your metabolism going well, help curb appetite etc. It's partly because it's a 0calorie drink.

Most people drink a lot of other stuff that's sweet, even fruit juice, not realizing it has calories, so the switch helps them a lot.

Mostly it's because of hydration, most people don't drink enough so they're slightly dehydrated, or underhydrated, so their body isn't working at full capacity(one way to tell this is if you get headaches, it means you don't get enough fluids usually, most headaches are due to mild dehydration as I recall). It's also great for skin, you often hear supermodels saying how much water they drink per day and how great it makes their skin look.

I think you only need 2L of water per day or so. That's 8 cups. Another way to get it is if you make tea, it's my secret for water intake. I get some great looseleaf tea(so it's not bitter like teabags) and I make a couple cups per day on top of 1L or so of water.

A lot of these responses so far have been somewhat accurate. Drinking water before and during a meal does make your hunger feel more satisfied. It is also true that the human body has a mechanism by which it will store excess water as backup in the case of a period of "drought," and so if you provide your body with a lot of water consistently, it will recognize this and adjust by dropping the excess stored water, which will cause you to lose weight.

No. If you drink so much water that it makes you full, then maybe you won't eat as much food, but other than that, it's not going to make you lose weight. Daily exercise and a healthy balanced diet is the only real way to lose weight and keep it off.

It rinses out extra nutrients, so yes but you have to be careful not to drink too much or you will rinse out too many nutrients and actually hurt yourself. People have actually passed out and even died from drinking too much water! I was told no more than 12 (8 ounce) glasses of water a day.

I doubt seriously if that is true. Water helps keep you hydrated and flushes the body, but losing pounds, I believe, will still depend on caloric intake.

Water takes up room in the stomach. It helps us feel full, even if it's just for a short period of time.

not neccesarily, drinking water before eating, or in most of the day, makes you feel full. which makes you less hungry, which makes you eat less. then you loose weight.
