Noone ever got fat eating salads.

Seriously though, you need things that burn slowly, so your blood sugar isn't all over the place. Whole grains(whole wheats for instance) or multigrains are best, they offer the best nutrition as far as a carbohydrate is concerned. Basically you want carbohydrates that haven't had the fiber stripped from them to make them white, so like brown rice for instance.

Also try sweet potatoes instead of potatoes, they're lower carb basically, and are tastier and really high in nutrition. Eat fruits and veggies plenty as they have fiber again to keep things moving, and are really nutritious.

Now don't ignore protein, it'll also keep your blood sugar balanced, if you like salads add in tuna or something to make them tastier and healthier and keep you full longer. If you dislike eating too much lean meats(chicken, fish, tuna, turkey), then go out and get protein shake powder, have some with a meal or a snack to boost the protein in your diet.

As for the fats, obviously stay away from trans fats. If you cook use olive oil, it's great for health. Though appearantly somehow drinking 2% milk helps you burn fat, it might have to do with a compound in the milk(it's also in red meat).

Water is important, it'll help moderate appetite because it can put something in an otherwise empty stomach. Plus you need liquids to metabolize fat, not enough water in your system means that not enough is spared for fat loss. You can also drink tea, very healthy, and if you get looseleaf teas they can be very tasty without sweetener because they're not bitter(check local tea shops, it's worth it). If you like sweeter drinks, try buying stevia to put in your tea, it's a natural 0calorie sweetener. The "NOW" brand is my favourite. If it's bitter try another brand, some make it wrong. Powder is fine. Use a very small amount at first it's many times sweeter than sugar.

I'm not sure what else. If you have a sweet tooth dark chocolate is great.

PS: One great study I heard of is that people adding soup to their dinner made them lose an average of something like 14 lbs I think over the life of the study(a couple months I think). It uses the idea that you slow down your eating with something that is mostly a liquid, then you eat less dinner because you're already digesting to begin with.

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.

I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.

It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.

Eat only one food group in one sitting.
1.Let's say you eat whole grains (Bread, Pasta, Oat meal), thats carbs, DON'T eat ANY meat or fruits with it. (Use whole wheat pasta, no meat with it)
2.Veggies are good any time, prefer the dark colored ones, red and green. Kale is filled with fibers and good stuff.
- Generally, wait at least 2 hours, before you eat another food group -
3. If you must eat meat (protein), try only to eat chicken, without fatty sauces. Protein can be had from beans, without the arterie clogging effect.
4. Fruits, yes, all good. But don't forget, eat only fruits, then wait for 2 hours (As brighter the color as more vitamins).
4. Don't drive around the parking lots of malls, until you find the closest parking spot, walk a bit. Get muscles, they burn 50 times more calories then fat. A 200 lbs person with only muscles burns in its sleep more calories then a 200 lbs person with only fat flab during exhausting workout.
Good luck, its not so hard.

Foods high in fiber and low in sugar. Whole wheat patsa, dark green, leafy veggies with Olive oil as a dressing. Don't be afraid to eat several times a day to repress cravings. Stay away from high processed carbs. I eat those and I'm hungry again in 2 hours!

Eat many small meals containing high fiber carbs and lean protein. Fiber fills you up without adding calories. Protein and carbs slow down the absorption of each other into the blood.

Here is a healthy foods list.

Veggies, also good protein with little fat like fish and lean meat. Beans, whole flour products, fruit, poultry.
Cook with little oil if you fry your food. Grill steam or other ways of preparing food are better.
Nuts in their wright proportion (amount) are energy high and good.

Avoid fatty foods and sugar. They will become stored as fat is your body if not burned out quickly. Watch what you drink, there is a lot of hidden sugar in many drinks.
Avoid white rice, white flour products, pastry, and lite chocolate.
Beware of "lite" products, they are not necessarily low in sugar or fat.

Hope I have helped.
