Who knows, maybe there are layers of existence we don't know about just as there are layers of an onion. How do we know that God is indeed the Lord of the universe? Maybe he's only lord of a small part of it. After all, the Hebrew Bible mentions that their are other "lesser" Gods and that Yahweh is the God of the Israelites.

By the way...I don't believe in Satan and I'm not Christian. I do not recognize an entity named Satan and I have never conversed or entertained such a vile creature. People do enough damage themselves without having to blame it on an imaginary creature.
I'm just wondering how people feel about this. It seems to me that the universe is such a wonderful and complex place and too oftentimes we humans try to simplify it too much. Theres no need to threaten me here..I'm just asking a simple question.

I suppose theoretically that's possible...if you are a fundamentalist you believe the Bible was divinely dictated by God so if God was deluded about being the only God (or actively putting out disinformation so that we would think God was the only God) it would be a pretty good trick to tell people that the Bible is the one and only truth...
In reality though, if there were beings higher than God would it make any difference to us? I mean, we are so far below God and God's being/existence/power is so incomprehensible to us, would something bigger or higher than God have any meaning to us at all?

What an interesting thought. It's something I had wondered, too, but I didn't know the part about the lesser gods. I will have to look into this some more with some research. Thanks for mentioning this.

You touched on a bit that is overlooked or ignored by most.
YHVH is the Lord God of Israel.
That makes him a regional or ancestral God.
There are at least 3 other Gods mentioned by name in the bible.

Try to really think about this; God is a power, a force that always was and always will be; without beginning; without end. "He" is it; there are no layers.
As humans, we think is finite terms; beginnings, ends; its natural for us to ask such questions.

That is why God came to earth as Jesus and told you who He was. When God said He is the only God did any other gods challenge Him?

How could He prove there isn't an even higher power? I hate conceptualizing the transinfinite.

Been talking to Satan lately?
He definitely wants you to doubt that God is Not the MOST high....and he certainly doesn't want you to know that He is.
