Fresh foods such as chicken, meat, fruit, vegetables, etc. can be sterilized by irradiation. Also things like boxed cereals, flour, corn meal and many products like these. I used to drive a truck into and load out of a facility that irradiated products in a number of units that held stacks of pallets at a time. I was always surprised by the types of things that went in and out of that facility. I don't know why it is not used more. It would take care of problems we have been having with things like with lettuce and meats. Maybe it is because of the expense, I don't know about that.

The only method that I can think of is Irradiation.

There might be chemical sprays to kill fungus and bacteria, but that would only affect the surface.
