There is no mention of this in Mark.
Luke 1 talks about the foretelling of John the Baptist's birth. Zacharias and Elisabeth were married and loved the Lord. They had no children because Elizabeth couldn't conceive and were of old age. The angel Gabriel appeared to Zacharias in the temple and said:"Do not be afraid, for your prayer is heard; and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John. And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth. For he will be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink. He will also be filled with the Hily Spirit, even from his mother's womb. And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God. He will also go before Him in the spirit and power of E L I J A H , to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.

Chapter 6
14 And king Herod heard, (for his name was made manifest,) and he said: John the Baptist is risen again from the dead, and therefore mighty works shew forth themselves in him. 15 And others said: It is Elias. But others said: It is a prophet, as one of the prophets.

--John's activity was very much like Elijahs in that it was fervent and warning in nature!
(Mark 6:15-16) “15 But others were saying: “It is E·li´jah.” Still others were saying: “It is a prophet like one of the prophets.” 16 But when Herod heard it he began to say: “The John that I beheaded, this one has been raised up.. . .”
(Mark 9:11-13) “11 And they began to question him, saying: “Why do the scribes say that first E·li´jah must come?” 12 He said to them: “E·li´jah does come first and restore all things; but how is it that it is written respecting the Son of man that he must undergo many sufferings and be treated as of no account? 13 But I say to YOU, E·li´jah, in fact, HA COME(my caps), and they did to him as many things as they wanted, just as it is written respecting him.””
