Coal comes from plants that die and are covered with dirt over millions of years they get squeezed by the weight of all the dirt and turn into coal.

Oil comes from tiny animals called plankton dying and sinking to the bottom of oceans or lakes and being covered with dirt the same way plants are turned into coal.

Most of it is from plants. Plants remove the CO2 from our air the plants take it in and hold on to the C and give us the O2. If u Fowler the C now the leaves fall off and wash down the rivers to the delta where it deteriorates to gas &oil and after a ling time to coal.
