What is the average diesel consumption per KW/ Day for diesel Engines

I recall reading a diesel generator's spec sheet that stated the following:

12.5 kW generator running at 100%
Fuel consumption = 1.16 gallons/hour

(1.16 gal / hr * 24 hr / day) / 12.5 kW = 2.23 gal / kW / day

These numbers are more than twenty years old.
I suspect fuel efficiencies have improved since then.
