Why do people say bad stuff about us polluting the earth and act as if they are not? I dont mean to say that we should pollute the earth but all i want to say is, according to the reseach i did, if global warming continues then it can also cause antartica to melt, which will then cause sea levels to rise and then poof! There go Asia, North and South america, Africa, Autrailia and other continents. Why don't all of us pitch in to save our trusty planet? Why do we keep polluting the earth? Why do we keep acting as if people who encourage us to save earth are just maniacs? You can answer just 1 BIG question:

Why do we pollute the earth, and why dont we save it?

NO, you are wrong! The pollution is causing smog which causes the ozone layer to become thinner - and that is why global warming happens.

You need to become better informed about the nature of man-made pollution and its various effects. Global warming, the ozone hole, and pollution are all different phenomena that have different, complex effects.

In order to encourage political action to correct these problems, you have to understand them in a realistic way, as well as understand the complex system of international trade and technology that keeps us all alive. Getting from where we are to a more sustainable world, without killing off a few billion people in the process, is going to be a very difficult political process. Start by getting yourself educated.

I have to agree with thislove.. and joe d on the issue that we are slowing the pollution down. I don't know as much about the global warming issues - I'm still back and forth on it specifically but smog is pollution.

We are running out of places to dump our trash and nobody wants it in their back yard. Yet how many people and communities really recycle all that they can. That costs money! It is so convenient, easy, quick, toss, oh yes the "throw away society" that we have become. There is no time and it is such a hassle to take bottles back to the store, wash dishes, cleaning rags, cloth napkins, and so many other things. Polluting the earth is not new problem. Attention has been called to it for several years, well over 40 yrs now. But attention is now focused on the "Global Warming" debate and not on Mother Earth herself. The polluted rivers, soil, and air from the mid to late 60's lead to the beginning of Earth Day in April 1970. You don't see or hear much anymore when Earth Day comes around. Has society become apathetic towards the pollution of earth? Just a thought.

Gosh, I wish I knew everything when I was in the seventh grade. A few points:

Pollution does not cause global warming Pollution is definied as the release of harmful materials into the environment. Global warming is caused by the build up of greenhouse gases, primarily CO2, in the atmosphere. These cases are not harmful, however. In fact, they are essential to life as we know it on this planet.

Ozone layer depletion, which is caused by certain pollutants, does not cause global warming. If anything, it is the other way around, global warming may accelerate the depletion of the ozone layer by various chemical mechanisms.

Oh come now. The projection is not the Al Gore 20 feet in sea level in 32 years but 1 foot over a few centuries. The real threat are the more intense storms that are predicted. The sun is putting out .05% more energy per decade and Mars and Pluto are warming without our help. Even though our egos say that we're causing the warming, we may have very little to do with it.

we pollute the earth to improve our living conditions, convenience and improve nutrition of people, moreover to boost our economy. by supplying electricity and water to villages in third world countries, we might be increasing stress on the environment, however, it allows better nutrition, health and living conditions of people.

the use of electricity actually reduces work. (eg machines). also, convenience products which we use everyday are doing harm to the environment. the packaging of the food, chemicals to increase their shelf life, and how we actually dispose of the waste produced has great impact on the environment. the paper we used today comes from deforestation. by working on civil engineering products like the computer and steam engine, we have already created pollution. this happens when everyone is leading a competitive life for better living.

we are already trying to save the environment. some examples are the production of environmentally friendly products which do not harm the environment, recycling of things we used, reducing wastage of natural resources etc. moreover, remember that there are non governmental organisations which are very powerful in convincing nations to save the environment. eg. Greenpeace. hope this helps! (:

I love the earth and do a lot of research on this subject. The truth is and it is sad we can't. We can't save it we already did it. The only thing we could do is slow it down. I don't me slow it down by 1000's or even 100's of years. Also the only way we could help is no more transportation or electricity.

great stuff sock it to them
its amazing how many people are skeptical about the damage humanity is doing to this planet

i think they are more concerned about going to heaven ,their vision blurred by the Sun ,to see what is going on ,as they hopefully stare in to the sky trying to focus on that mythecal place that is much better and more beautifull than Earth

that they must die first to go there does not seem to be a problem

to many of us this planet is a paradise , that we wish to enjoy whilst still alive

this was one of my answers on Global Warming
apearently it was too much .
