I want to help a worthy cause but I am unable to move TV without help. I think anyone getting this for free should at least carry the item out

Call an Abused Womens Shelter in your area OR a Homeless Shelter. If the TV works, they will find a way to come get it

You should join your local freecycle group. This is a worldwide organization that focuses on keeping useful items from filling up our landfills. The way it works is this: You post a message and emails go out to thousands of people in your area who may be in need. They email you back and you select who you want to have it and they pick it up. It's also a great place to find things for free that you might want. This doesn't require any "middleman" that has to be an employee of the charity. Sometimes items given to charities never make it to the ones in need.
Go to this site:
http://www.freecycle.org
and find the freecycle groups in your area. You can join as many as you want as long as they are nearby. This is something that I really believe in. I'm even writing a book about how to make things out of trash.

In my local area, both The Salvation Army and Goodwill will pick up heavy, bulky items for no charge. Call the charities in your area and ask them if this is a service they offer.
