Visit 'Iolani Place: http://www.iolanipalace.org/
A Hawaiian national treasure and the only official state residence of royalty in the United States, `Iolani Palace was the official residence of the Hawaiian Kingdom's last two monarchs -- King Kalakaua, who built the Palace in 1882, and his sister and successor, Queen Lili`uokalani. During the monarchy period, the Palace was the center of social and political activity in the Kingdom of Hawai`i.
Though its grandeur was neglected after the overthrow of the monarchy, restoration began in the 1970s through efforts of concerned individuals. Restoration and preservation continues, and, as a result, today's visitors to this National Historic Landmark in downtown Honolulu enjoy one of the most precise historic restorations and learn much about Hawaiian history and heritage.

First just the fact that Hawaii is made up of a bunch of islands, eight major and hundreds of smaller ones. It has the only royal palace in the US, it has Pearl Harbor and the Arizona memorial.
I have been there many times and even lived there for a while. I could not even begin to tell you about all of my favorite places, but I have listed a number of sites that will give you all of the information that you could ever want, even some of the odd ball stuff.

Look up "Kamehameha" and "Nuuanu Pali Lookout" together. There is some interesting history about a battle at the top of the cliffs. Today, you can drive up to the lookout, where warriors died, and lean into the wind, as it will hold you up. You can look down on an unbeliveably beautiful sight, and hike down the overgrown old Pali road for even better views. All free.
Also, this site will give you MANY things you could consider for your report. http://oahu.aloha-hawaii.com/tours/pali+lookout/
