First of all the Vatican needs to change its stance on contraception. That would not only prevent some abortions, but also save the lives of a lot of people and slow down the spreading of HIV.
The Vatican cannot completely stop abortions from taking place though. Even if they change their stance on contraception and encourage people to not have abortion, they will never get everyone to do as they say.

Unfortunately, for devout Catholics, there is not much they can do. The Pope does have political sway but not enough for a huge change. Catholics are against all contraception. Condoms are the only contraception allowed and it is only able to be used by married couples with one partner being HIV positive.

Why are you blaming the Vatican, they don't tell the people to do it and also you are implying that only Catholics have abortions, that is so far from the truth

You want to stop abortion? How about this... ensure that every single child will be adopted to a loving, caring, compassionate and capable family, eliminate homelessness, spousal abuse, and substance abuse completely, find a way to ensure that anyone who gets pregnant will NEVER lose their job for inability to work through pregnancy no matter how sick they get, guarantee every woman that any man who says he'll take care of a child WILL DO SO in a loving, caring and kind manner, eliminate all genetic abnormalities in the human genome....
When you can do all those things, then come back and we'll talk.

Very simple. They can start minding their own buisness and stop interfering with people's lives. Who takes care of the resultant 20 kids people have when they decide to obey the "no contraception" rule? Holier than thou is all well and good when you referring to other people. It's a little harder to swallow when it is towards you. Many priests have found it hard to remain celibate like their institution preaches. I think that might be a more worthy cause to curtail than contraception. Charity begins at home

well they really cant. becouse they don't believe in contraception it goes against god. but to be honest most cathilics know the importance. they just chose to ignore it. and on top of that most catholice so opposed to contraseption is married catholics who really don't need it, and they oppose abotion too, cause they dont need it. if they are not married they are priest who aren't getting any anyways. the subject in question is be desided against by people it doesnt really involve. this would be why alot of the young christians have fallen out of the church and haveing difficulty as a result. too many pointless rules dangerouse rules and too much contradiction is their teachings. so break one rule to get people to follow another? doesn't make much sence, so they really should go for it but, they will damn both and stay stuck in a pickle

I don't think those crazy catholics think that contraception is important at all. I heard a priest say the other night on national TV that he would never encourage the use of condoms not even to slow the spread of STD's.

Abortion is against the Catholic religion,but then so is contraception. My mother almost killed herself having children and miscarriages until she 'went against' our pastor and got on the pill.....there are 9 of us.
