He is often irritable, angry, negative attitude, sleep pattern all messed up, etc.. Although some of this is due to him losing his job recently, he's had a rough life in general and these issues are a recurring pattern of how he deals with life. I usually stay away from "negative" people, but I care very much about him and feel it would make matters worse if I leave him now.

Offer to go with him to get help. Tell him that you love him, but if he doesn't get help it will destroy your relationship.

Just remember that if he alsolutely refuses help, he will ruin your life. You need to love yourself also. Self preservation is important too!

I'm sure if you try you can make him happy again. I would hate to give up on someone in distress whom I love. Talk to him about it.. Try to find the real root of it- if it's really about a job then help him to find a new one which he will be happy at.

No, you need to stay and try to help and comfort him. If it doesn't work then you should consider your options and what make happen with each one.
