I am a Universalist/ Pagan, which means in the big picture, I consider all paths worthy of contemplation, but for personal practice, I find that Pagan ideas and practices best fit my beliefs. Learning about other religions does not negate my beliefs. If anything it expands on them, increases my understanding of the Wholeness. If you learn something that causes you to question your beliefs, that's ok, it is just something to think about, and in thinking about your beliefs, you can come to a conclusion that helps to clarify what you really think about them, and strengthen them in the end. And if you still question your beliefs, that doesn't mean you are faltering, it means you aren't sure what a particular belief means to you, and maybe need more information or thought about it. Well, when you think about it everyone is following somebody, right? Everyone is taking after someone else's examples, correct? Even people who say they don't believe in any religion, they must get their ideas about life from the people around them...we are all influenced by those around us - teachers, co-workers, family, friends.
And if you're following someone's ideas, actions and/or beliefs than you're putting your faith in them, correct? So, if this is true than that would mean that everyone puts their faith into something - whether it's a religion like Hinduism, Christianity, etc. or simply themselves or an object of some kind. Everyone has a faith of some kind.
As a christian, I'm following the teachings of Jesus...well, I'm trying to follow the teachings of Jesus. He was a pretty good guy....he was generous, caring, loving, honest, hung out with the people who were the poorest, the saddest, the loneliest and went to the extreme to save the world.
Who is it that you follow in your Hindu faith? What or who is it that you have faith in?
Personally, I really enjoy reading about other religions. I find them fascinating. But, I don't worry about faltering in my faith because of it, because I'm quite sure of the person I have put my faith in. There is nothing I will read about that can compare to the relationship I have with the person I have put my faith into - Jesus.
I think it's good for people to read about other religions...and I hope that find someone you can whole-heartedly put your faith into and follow.
All the best

you won't be able to have a faith with purely one individual. As one individual you may start up one yet you opt for a set to have it regognised as such. only having beliefs isn't sufficient there ought to also be committment and emotional funding, that is why weekend sport for some human beings is a "faith." regrettably all too usually once a superior theory has change right into a faith an outstanding form of the forged bits could have already been lined or lost with each and each of the more effective products which have a tendency to get connected. faith is purely required by technique of a few religions e.g. Christianity, others, even significant ones, do no longer require any faith.

Have you heard of the Baha'i Faith? I'm a Baha'i, and one of the most important sayings from the Baha'i Writings is "Independant investigation of the truth"...basically, as long as you are searching for the truth, of whatever you're investigating, you don't need to worry about being unbiased or anything. You're not doing anything wrong..in fact, I reckon it's way better to really search out for the truth in all these religions we know about, than to just settle with what we're given - that's so easy to do!!
Good luck :)
Oh and if you're interested, you can check out the Baha'i principles on the main website: www.bahai.org.

I think learning about other belief systems is a very good thing. It can give you insight into the behavior of others and lead to more tolerance. I have seen people in this forum say that they don't need to study anyone's religion as they know theirs is the truth. That is a scary way to live in my opinion and shows just how weak they are. It sounds like you are a thinking caring person. Peace.

If you remain faithful to your faith, you can't be unbiased to other religions, as you'll always judge them from the point of view of your own prejudices!
