2. I take this opportunity OF introducing myself as .......
If the second one correct, doesn't it sound odd?

i would say the first...we normally use the word opportunity with the prepositions "to" and "for"

The first is correct.

I think the second form would be possible in the past tense, i.e. "I had no opportunity of introducing myself..."
