I believe that one should marry one person. Here are some practical reasons:

1. How would the kids feel knowing that Dad devalues his wife by forcing her to accept other women?

2. How would one man support more than one wife, especially if she doesn't work?

3. What about the spread of diseases and infections? It is unnatural.

4. Doesn't it create a structure that favours the interests of men over women?

5. It devalues real commitment and monogamy, which are sacred and beautiful.

6. It suggests that women can be forced into arranged marriages against their will and they are just looking for financial security and not a real husband and companion.

7. It is confusing and difficult for the children, who have to compete against several other kids for attention. It is beyond sibling rivalry. We aren't talking about having two or three kids here. It could be fifteen, even more.

8. Why would a woman feel loved if she has to share a man?

9. How will you support them in a divorce?

10. It is convenient to have someone clean up after you and so they have to serve the first wife, devaluing them and their status. The first wife usually would not agree to this.

Basically ALL passages in the Bible
where the practice of polygamy is mentioned also give a vivid picture
of the problems coming with it. There is NOT ONE passage which talks
about the blessings of polygamy. But there are dozens of passages
where polygamy is reported and it is always resulting in trouble,
jealousy and strife. It is always accompanied by unhappiness.
The Torah states in Deuteronomy 17, verse 17:

He [the king] must not take many wives,
or his heart will be led astray.

Punter this is for you:
And what do the verses say which report about the fact of 700 wives and
300 concubines for King Solomon?

1 Kings 11:1-11 reads as follows
2 They were from nations about which the LORD had told the Israelites,
"You must not intermarry with them, because they will surely turn
your hearts after their gods." Nevertheless, Solomon held fast to
them in love.
3 He had seven hundred wives of royal birth and three hundred concubines,
AND HIS WIVES LED HIM ASTRAY.
Not only do the last two verses report that this was AGAINST God's law,
they also report that exactly the predicted result was coming to pass,
namely that they were leading Solomon astray from the worship of the one
true God only.

The God of christians, jews and muslims is the same Allah the only one God.God in the last holy book Al Qur'an,allowed muslim men to married up to 4 official wives because in the era of jahiliyah arabic men have many wives unlimited.God knows that the lust of a man is not the same so God allowed it with a maximum 4 wives as an emergency door.It was a fact at that time that there were many old widows with many children whose husband died in a battle with the infidels..So for making a better society and better welfare of widow and their orphans God permitted muslim men for having a maximum 4 wives. But this permission should meet a hard qualification i.e the men should be fair among their wives
God spoke in the holy Qur'an that being fair is very difficult so God suggested only one wife.Muhammad pbuh married with old widows for protecting their orphans and avoiding fitnah or misled accusation or slander.Unofficial wife is not allowed for. muslim men, because adultery or fornication is prohibited and someone who did it will have a great sin. and should be punished by stone throwing until died.Adultery is a living together between a man and a woman without marriage bas
ed only on love and agreement of both. This kind of living together is like animals..In many countries where there are more women than men so polygamy is the mergency dor for social unrest of excessive women is better than adultery. Yes we are living in AD but the problem of excessive women should be solved by the best solution. .

The OT and NT do not say anything about limiting the number of wives that a woman can have. In fact, even in Muhammad's time, there were a few Jews still practicing poly marriage.

On the other hand, the Qur'an actually set a limit on the number of wives a man could have, it set the ground rules for taking on another wife, when before there was no limit, nor any ground rules for taking on another wife.

The Qur'an set guys straight..

In Christian land a man can only legally have one wife but have any number of mistresses on the side. Sure it might get him divorced if his wife finds out but its not against the law. He can also have numerous children from those ladies and who cares. She might go to court and sue him for child support but that's after proving they are his and chasing him down to get his butt in court. Not to mention the numbers that just live together period with out even bothering to marry as a sign of commitment and then have lots of little kiddies to perpetuate the whole cycle.

In Islam God restricts all sexual intercourse to certain guidelines and within legal limits ordained in marriage. A man is restricted to 4 wives yes, but he must first meet all requirements ordered by God such as treating all spouses equally(house, car, money, etc)and all his children inherit from him regardless of which mom is theirs. But God also says that because man cant be equal with his affection and that's what women want most generally, then God says its better to have just one wife. Very few men can meet the criteria ordered by God for more than one wife so most Muslim men dont practice polygamy....those that do are probably not full filling the criteria laid down by God and will be held accountable on the final day.

Because their god is different from Christians' God. They praise Allah who allows them those multiple wives.

Also, there are many Islamic "rules" persay, that give the men many more rights than a woman. In most arab countries, the women can't drive, vote, dress w/out proper coverage, etc.

And yes ADULTERY is 100% illegal in the US, no matter which religion, Coolred3

God restricted men to marry up to four wives where as before that it was no such restriction. in old testemone there was no restriction to marry only one. it was later on added to bible about the restriction.

There are certian conditions in which a man can marry more than one wife. its not openly allowed to marry more than one wife. one has to follow certain restrictions for that.

because the messages in other religions are altered and considered not original anymore. In islam, the book hasnt changed from the way it used to be. it always is. In christianity and judaism, there are so many errors in their holy books. those have gone to many hands. the original language of bible writings has changed. they have some forum to decide which is supposed to be deleted or modified in the bible. Therefore, the bible we have now is not the same as it used to be back then.

quran, islam's holy book, is always written in arabic. it's never changed. It's true that quran is also translated to many languages, but there must always be the original language in the book. That way, people can always correct things, whether it's changed or not, so the contents and the messages within are preserved. we cannot do that in bible. it is always changed. bible version 1 might be different from bible version 4. correction, elimination, modification---they ruin their book.

and about the wife. islam doesnt allow men to have several wives just for sex--with no responsible. it is not meant to be that way. i can give you some cases where men can have more than 1 wife:
-his wife cannot give a child to him. so he can have another wife that can give him a child, on the condition that he is allowed by his previous wife. and God forbids that he loves one wife more than another.

-a man is always assigned to work in one place far away. so often he leaves her wife. and you know, men, sometimes they have biological needs (sex). when he's far away from his wife, he cannot have sex with other women because it's considered as a sin. that's why he gets married again with the same condition with the previous case.

-a man married a woman. at some point, she cannot perform sexually because of an accident or something. divorcing her is of course going to hurt her. but, staying married without being able to have sex with your wife, is killing you. and having sex with another woman without marriage and your wife knowing it, will hurt her as well. so what's the best way? you know the answer.

i mean think: which one is better, having an afair without your wife knowing it, or having another wife when your wife allows you to? Besides, women in this world outnumbers men. where there is a man, there are three women. the number of women is 3 times greater than the number of men, statistically speaking of course. so, let's say, in this world there are 100 guys and 300 girls, and the 100 guys get merried with 100 girls, what do you think the other 200 girls should do? wait for 200 guys to instaneously exist? hmmmm..........
