It's a myth, and old wives tail. It does not cause arthritis. Some people think that it can cause swelling in the hand, but no reputable study has been conducted that supports that conclusion.

Its soo not true!!! I have been doing it for longer than Ive been a massage therapist...14 yrs. My toes crack, my wrists crack, my knees crack, even my back!!! No weirdness has occured. Besides, the synovial fluid in your joints only swells up and makes the joints bigger if and only if you have some sort of infection. But that almost rarely ever, ever happens.

According to medical journals & experts...poping your knuckles is just releasing air in the joints and it doesn't make your hands bigger.
